Riding the train home tonight I overheard three guys sitting on the train engaged in small talk discussing what their professions are. The topic of Bitcoin came up and I eavesdropped intently.
One of these guys is a financial planner, the other two were in IT related roles. One of the IT guys talked about their former colleague who had bought into Bitcoin back in 2013 and was now living it up having cashed out $750,000 worth!
They then said how they had wished they had bought in as well, they would be filthy rich like their old colleague. Bitcoin had probably beaten any other form of investment in the past 4 years, and despite just hearing the success story, the financial planner still told his friends that getting involved in Bitcoin is a bad idea!
This guy has no clue. I'm sure NONE of his clients made anywhere near what this guy did who was now living it up from his Bitcoin earnings.
We don't need to bet the house on Bitcoin (or Ethereum, other cryptos), but if you've got a bit of spare money lying around, and you can stomach the wild fluctuations in price, it's well worth dabbling in Bitcoin. Simply buy some and hold it, just play with money you can afford to lose. You've got to be in it to win it, and with something as revolutionary as Bitcoin, it's well worth having a punt.
