Uber now accepting Bitcoin friendly CEO!

in #bitcoin7 years ago

Uber has offered Dara Khosrowshahi the position of CEO. Dara is the current CEO for Expedia. He began accepting Bitcoin payments at Expedia in June, 2014. Expedia utilizes the US based Coinbase exchange as his bitcoin payment provider.

Can you imagine the increase in demand if Uber begins to accept bitcoin as a form of payment. Uber is huge with revenues passing 10 billion annually.

In 2016 the Argentina Uber drivers began using Bitcoin as a way of payment since credit cards were not allowed. Maybe that was the “small taste” of bitcoin that Uber needed in choosing their new CEO.

In fact, Airbnb users are pushing for Bitcoin as well. When the CEO of Airbnb asked his users for suggestions on new Integrations, a majority of the users responded with Bitcoin payment integration. Many of the users cited Expedia as the example. Airbnb, for those not aware, has made an industry of booking privately owned residences instead of hotels. Their users book unique homes and experience a city like a local. It is important to note that the typical price for an Airbnb rental is thousands of dollars higher than an Uber ride fare. The integration of Bitcoin into Airbnb would be a massive step for Bitcoin.

It seems that Dara Khosrowshahi has created an impressive reputation at Expedia. It will be exciting to see if his leadership at Uber will open any new doors for Bitcoin.

Reality bytes so let’s change it!

It would be amazing dor bitcoin to be accepted and for the companies to provide wallets for the users. Imagine all the new users that can be added if Uber provides its drivers and users with a built in wallet for its app.

It's only a matter of time before we can spend our cryptocurrencies on the free market. Once that normalizes, I believe conventional money will become extinct.

Agreed. I just bought silver from an online retailer using my bitcoin. No bank required!
