Depending on the outcome of the upgrade, Bitcoin might take a hit as there is a fair chance that Bitcoin will be split, not unlike ETH and ETC. Most wallets and exchanges will be ready for the split. If you are a previous owner of Bitcoin, when the split happens, you will own both versions of the coin.
