Hey @hippo, yep I'm kind of the same, well I started with a smallish budget and lost most of it, until I started to follow @haejin, whatever amount you have to invest, just spread out your buys, some at the top, middle and bottom.
It can be a pain to do especially if your trading BTC, but trust me, whatever amount that doesn't get bought, it's money you can put in another coin.
Give it a go, I had force myself to do this, especially on a small budget, but it pays off.
