Today I would like to write a deep review on Seele (Blockchain 4.0).
In the recent days, we are hearing a word Blockchain and Bitcoin from so many people from all over the world. Everyone wants to know why it is getting a lot of importance and what it makes a lot of buzz on the internet?
The Blockchain technology is a revolutionary and disruptive emerging tech which comes into existence through Satoshi Nakamoto by introducing Bitcoin (Blockchain 1.0). Bitcoin is getting popular and more valuable because of its underlying blockchain technology which can make transactions on peer to peer basis without any intermediaries like Banks and Financial Institutions in a secured way with POW consensus algorithm. later in 2015, A smart mind named Vitalik Buterin introduced Smart contracts with a combination of Blockchain technology as Ethereum Platform (Blockchain 2.0) as a Super global computer where the developers can build Dapps on top of the platform like how we have apps from Google play store and IOS store. In the initial days of Ethereum, there are only a few Dapps created on top of this platform and everything went smoothly. Later when Ethereum getting popular through ICOs for fundraising their startups and Dapps like Cryptokitties game is getting a lot of traffic due to its popularity, at that time Ethereum is fully clogged with a number of transactions pending to confirm in the blockchain because of Ethereum can process only 10 to 15 tx/second. That reveals the need for high Tx/second within the blockchain ecosystem. From thereafter lot of projects like EOS, Zilliqa, Dfinity (Blockchain 3.0) are started working to solve the Tx/second with sharding and sidechains, DAG technology and with different consensus algorithms like PoS, pBFT, DPoS, but all of these are having deficiency in security, decentralisation, power consumption, fault tolerance and many more.
Apart from these to make Blockchain technology into real mainstream adoption and to make it useful for large enterprise applications, it needs to solve a lot of challenges like privacy, security, integration with traditional systems and different blockchains and easy tools for developers to build Dapps on platform.
To allow large enterprises meet blockchain technology seamlessly and to make Blockchain technology into mainstream adoption Seele (Blockchain 4.0) comes with innovative features like Neural consensus algorithm, Heterogenous forest network, and introducing various protocols at basic level from scratch like VTP(Value transport protocol), QVIC(Quick value internet connection), VHTTPS (Value hypertext transfer protocol), 'Storage and Computing sharing'. Through these features eliminating weakness in the blockchain structure to make it strong and more widespread adoption all over the world and ultimately transforming the communication-based internet into Value internet.
Seele is aiming to disruptive and trying to reach the peak value of internet through its various innovations in Blockchain technology. I will explain the innovations made by Seele in depth below
1 Neural Consensus Algorithm
This Neural consensus Algorithm is proposed with the inspiration of "human brain". We all know that how the human brain is effective and efficient in terms of taking actions and reacting to the actions immediately with the complex network of huge neurons. Our brain works based on three principles.
i) Feedback Excitation - our neurons try to improve their performance from the feedback of previous actions.
ii) Neural tree - Neurons speak to other neurons which are around that neurons and then the neurons which had information will pass to the other near neurons. With this, the information passes to entire neurons in a blink of second and forming tree like a structure.
iii) Probabilistic consistency - when neurons are working together in a collaborative manner we get a stable observation and statistically the result will be consistently same when they repeatedly have the same process.
With the above principles, Seele team developed E - differential agreements (EDA) as consensus algorithm for the Seele Blockchain.
i) Active Optimisation - In EDA there are several rounds and in the current round, EDA will consider the previous round as input to improve the performance. This is works like a Feedback Excitation.
ii) Multi layer sampling - A node speaks to few nodes and then few nodes speakes to other nodes and then it will reach to all nodes.
iii) Probabilistic Consistency - When we use EDA consistently then the results from observations will be statistically stable.
Using EDA the nodes are able to asynchronously process and sorts in a large scale decentralized environment and decides the transaction order perfectly. The order of transactions in Block 1 is placed in order before Block 2 happens. EDA will scale linearly based on the size of the network (no of nodes). EDA supports high concurrency through the continuous voting system instead of discrete voting and ensures high fault tolerance rate. E - differential agreements are customizable according to various business needs. I.e., For some businesses they need high Tx/second having a low value of every transaction where fault tolerance can be ignored and some businesses need high value transactions to need to go through without any errors where fault tolerance need to be minimised at maximum.
2 Heterogeneous Forest Network
We all seeing single blockchain and multiple blockchain architectures to meet the business needs. But Single blockchain structure is already failed to prove when a busy business like Cryptokitties needs high Tx/second. And in case of multiple blockchain architectures, we are seeing multiple sidechains/parallel chains to increase tx/second drastically but these chains are not able to meet the rapidly changing and diversified needs of business. With the inspiration from DNS (Domain Name System), Seele proposed to frame Heterogeneous Forest network to bridge the real world and digital world.
Heterogeneous forest network consists of different subnets optimized for different use cases. each subnet can be seen as a hierarchical partition tree, the top of the tree chain is a global service chain, called "Meta chain", which provides global configuration and scheduling service. From top to bottom, it is a chain of various business forms. It is divided according to business scenarios, isolation mechanisms, and performance costs. Subnets can handle different scenarios independently and also can interact with each other with Cross chain agreements and protocols. Through this businesses can work seamlessly between different blockchains according to their requirements in the real world.
3 Value Transport Protocol
In the traditional internet devices and software are able to share resources and interact with internet once they are having a proper IP address. But in current blockchain ecosystem, every blockchain is having their own set of codes, links, strings and this makes incompatible to communicate between blockchains. It is crucial that in the ecosystem of having different assets in the blockchain, it needs to design a protocol which defines asset. In order to overcome these difficulties Seele proposes the Value Transport Protocol (VTP) based on the heterogeneous forest network architecture. This protocol covers the uniform identification of the assets on the chain and the routing strategy for asset discovery. Through VTP, Seele defines Uniform Asset Identifier (UAI) in a hierarchical basis to identify assets exact location. And not only that Seele also develops Value HTTP like traditional HTTP to exchange values between chains and offchains and onchains for Value internet. Users outside the chain can interact with data inside the chain with HTTP protocol.
4 Quick value internet connection
The present existing blockchains are using traditional protocols TCP/UDP but which are not much compatible for transport and application layers in Blockchain. With the existing TCP/UDP latency can affect heavily the performance of consensus algorithms and synchronisation of blocks between nodes. With this in mind, Seele developed QVIC that has low latency and a high tolerance for packet losses. It ensures the efficiency and fastness from UDP and provides integrity of TCP data transmission. QVIC excels especially during the transmission of packets of a specific block size (1M, 2M).
Seele is developing complete contract development tool - Seele Editor for developers. Because to make the blockchain more popular and get a better development.
Seele introduced its own token called Seele. It can be used mainly for two purposes.
i) Reward to the participant nodes in the network with tokens.
ii) To charge a transaction fee for transactions in the network.
Total supply of tokens:1 billion Seele.

Dr Maolin Zheng — CEO
Dr Zheng’s main expertise lies in Math Modeling and Algorithms. Even though he doesn’t have blockchain experience, his extensive experience in Algorithms and math modelling make him a great leader of the Seele project. Seele’s ambitious aim to tackle complex problems require experience, talent and leadership. Judging by his resume, Dr Zheng ticks all boxes.
Dr Wei Bi
Dr Bi completes the competences a strong blockchain project needs. He brings extensive Blockchain experience, even having 8 blockchain related patents pending. On his own. Next to his blockchain experience, his work is published in multiple high profile media and he has experience in leading roles.
Dr Nick Smith — COO
Dr Smith has an extensive background in research. Dr Smith sounds like a good addition to the team, although a central role as COO is fairly new to him. This makes Dr Smith a valuable force.
