Coinbase is an exchange or the custodian, they do keep the private keys of users. If coinbase decides to pass it on to the clients, then you can get.
Thanks, I thought I read that they are planning to support Bitcoin Cash early 2018 guess we will see on this fork. Another reason to always have your private keys!
