Emergency post, probably will be offline for a bit; Making it big in crypto, only to have it ripped away

in #bitcoin8 years ago

So hi all,

I once again am posting, but not with good news or humor because of a really shitty event that just occurred in my life, with no warning. I have just learned that my coinbase account in which I hold 95% of my crypto, and life savings, has been totally emptied and closed... all within an hour period apparently and with no communication why or anything, even now, except a message saying my account was terminated. I would normally try to be more coherent but I don't exactly know what's going on, and coinbase says that my account no longer exists and that support is 'busy' I'm wracking my brain trying to figure out what happened. I have all the security things set up, 2 factor... everything. I had almost all my savings in that account... I may need to step away from steemit for a couple days, just to sort this out... has anyone else experienced this???

I'll update this post as I figure out what happened.

Sort:

Happened to my friend as well. He got an email saying someone might have sim swapped his cell phone in order to obtain his authenticator code. Once they had his phone information they were able to access his email/personal files thus leading to them asking polo/coinbase to reset their password. Once they had all his info his coinbase was wiped out. Might be the same scenario for you but who knows.
Goodluck though.

You could be right, I'm just in total disbelief that this would happen. I'm in a panic right now... Did your friend ever get it back? Did they close his account after they wiped it??

Try contacting your phone carrier company and obviously coinbase/exchanges you use. He hasn't just yet because it happened pretty recently. Nope, his account is still up which boggles my mind why yours is wiped. They might've wiped yours so it would be harder to trace back or something?
I'll try updating you if he ever receives it back or what they say though.

Hope you find out what happen and you can get your money back. That sucks majorly
