Cryptocurrency will find itself on A powerful world stage in coming weeks. World leaders are poised to discuss the arising token technologies, and the potential risks that follow, at the G20 summit. The talks are assumed to focus heavily on regulation, if the market has appropriate measures to protect investors against financial crime.
Some crypto experts say world leaders banding together to regulate crypto will make it a safer investment overtime. Others opt for A decentralized way of things, advocating for no new laws or government intervention. Their is indeed a clear line between both sides, and even a third party who believe in the success of crypto, regardless of future government intervention or lack of.
The next g20 meeting is on the 20th of February, its anticipated the first crypto talks will begin there. Only time will tell what stances the world leaders will take on crypto, and what affects on the price such news may bring. I will be sure to keep you updated:
Hey shredderjoe, indeed the 20th - 22nd will be important dates to watch, though whether or not we actually learn what is going on behind the closed doors is another matter. Personally I am of the opinion that sooner or later we are going to receive some form of regulation mandate and to be honest I think that I would prefer it to be sooner. Once we know what is what then, as a community, we can start to build upon what will hopefully be a firmer foundation. I think that the meeting in New York last week was a positive indication of the US standpoint and like it or not the rest of the world does put a lot of store in what the US thinks. I think that it is also a good thing that most countries at the summit hold a positive opinion regarding Blockchain in general and I think that the vast majority of them understand that cryptocurrency and the blockchain go hand in hand. I think that they are more concerned about how to get their cut (i.e. claim taxes) and at the same time keep investors safe and stop the misuse of crypto funds through illegal channels. But as you say only time will tell. Thanks for the post, Cheers J
