SEC's "Crypto Mom": "Encourage skepticism"

in #bitcoin6 years ago

SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce sat down with me at Consensus 2019 to talk about individual responsibility in the crypto space and not relying too heavily on the government's tick of approval.

"People have come to rely too heavily on what they see as an 'SEC seal of approval', and I always say to them, it's not that ... One of the best things we can do as a regulatory body is try to encourage skepticism."

We talk about how regulatory bodies have been doing so far in keeping up with the crypto space, and the future of decentralization and how crypto is making us completely rethink regulation.

Hester Peirce has been a strong supporter of crypto from within the SEC, and I'm very grateful for her time!

Someone, who is threatening me with use of force, if I do something (except hurting others) that he doesn't like, is my enemy. SEC is one of my enemies. I don't want to listen its 'representative'.

Hester Peirce has always argued on the side of more freedom to crypto and Blockchain tech. She's a great ally to have inside the SEC.

Good interview Naiomi! Glad to see she realizes Regulation as we know it will not work.
Unfortunately with all the shennanigans and scams oversight is necessary, This is human nature.
However regulation will be nearly impossible to implement in a new, peerless and hyper evolving economy.
If and when things slow and become apparent, a new decentralized regularity authority will evolve.
Anything forced into place in the mean time will simply fail.

Very good video
