You get an awesome game called Dragon's Tale!
Dragon's Tale is an online MMORPG that involves gambling for Bitcoin. The game has been around for many years, and is fairly well known across the Bitcoin community. Just like a real life casino, you can win or lose money by playing the games. I have had great winning streaks over the years (as well as horrible losses), but regardless of how well or poorly I have done - I have always found it to be an extremely fun game.
The game is filled with all kinds of mini-games, each with its own set of rules, and ways to make/lose bitcoins. A list of games can be found here, and there is an excellent wiki with tutorials and details about each game.
One of my favorite mini-games is a simple game of chance called "Coconut Trees". You basically walk up to a coconut tree in the game, wager a certain amount of bitcoins, and then coconuts fall from the tree. A random number of coconuts between 2 to 20 will fall to the ground. If an even number of coconuts falls to the ground, you lose your bet. If an odd number of coconuts falls to the ground, you win 2x your bet. Simple, yet fun :)
The game supports pretty much any betting level you are comfortable with. You can play games with bets as low as 1 ksat, or bet hundreds of bitcoins on a single wager! The game has been around for many years, and has a large pool of bitcoins in storage - in case any high rollers win big and want to cash out.
In addition to the mini-games where you are trying to win money, the game also has an RPG component. When you start out, you are at level 0. You need to complete in-game tasks to level up. By completing the tasks, you unlock new parts of the game, and get new opportunities to make Bitcoins through the game.
The entire game is a giant MMO. As you play, you are interacting with other players. You can make friends, share tips, and even work together or against each other in multi-player games for Bitcoins. One of the most popular ways to interact is through an in-game party. Often after a player wins a huge jackpot, they will throw a party where the other players can hang out and win coins without having to wager anything themselves. The player hosting the party will pay the fee for a multi-player payout game that pays out the winnings to all players at the party. One examples is a game of "shots" where everyone at the party takes shots until they fall-down, and the last one standing wins bitcoins (relative to the size of the host player's bet).
Because there is so much to learn about the game, and you want to know as much about the mini-games as you can before you place your bets, it is important that you find a friend in the game that can help you learn how to play. Pretty much all of the high-level players in the game are willing to help out new players, so just introduce yourself to the people you meet, and you will easily make some friends. I also want to give a shout out to my personal in-game mentor 'hezaza', who has been my guide since I joined several years ago. We have become great friends over the years, and hez has taught me pretty much everything I know about the game. If you are looking for someone who knows the game inside and out, look for him in the game and introduce yourself.
When you join the game, it will give all new players a few ksat to play around with, so that you can explore for free and try out the games. You can deposit Bitcoin directly into your in-game wallet, and withdrawing from the game is very easy. If you like gambling and RPGs and haven't tried out this game before, I highly recommend that you check it out! Go to http://www.dragons.tl to download and play!
It sounds pretty cool, but how much actual content and gameplay is there other than gambling of bitcoins? Is there pvp?
There are a lot of parts to the game, including many social aspects, and a large map/world to explore. There are common areas where people hang out and chat, and there are a lot of ways to play games together or against each other (for Bitcoin). Most of it ties into gambling in some form of another.
There are frequently tournaments held in the game, where everyone who enters will play some form of mini-game defined by the tournament rules. There will be a payout at the end from the tournament pot, to whomever the winners of the tournament are.
I guess I haven't really gotten into the community much but I've been playing for a couple weeks on and off. All the statues seem to be for older players and not much seems to be geared toward newbies outside of the helpful high level players. I think they need to up their game when it comes to newbs because while it is fun, it's clearly more fun if you were a member for years
Like I mentioned in the post, you should try to find a high level player in the game to be your mentor, to help you learn the ropes. There is a lot to the game, so having someone with experience to help you learn how to play is a big help!
I totally learned a lot from my mentor n0m, but I'm more addressing the fact that for low level players there aren't cool statues to search out or much besides the actual betting. It took me forever to gather up all them tree leaves and by the end it wasn't very satisfying. The community is definitely cool though, I agree
The game does give new players some free coins to play with, but it definitely isn't enough to explore the game to its full potential. While it is possible to take your free coins and get on a winning streak to the point that you can start playing the more advanced games, at the end of the day it is a casino. They aren't wanting to give you tons of ways to play for free and win lots of money without ever having to wager any of your own coins.
For sure, it's a casino. I'd just like a little more rpg elements at the earlier levels. Like rpg quests that teach you how to play and trains you up, that way the mentors can focus on more advanced topics than how to move your avatar
I hadn't heard about it. Thanks.
As more games and platforms like steemit integrate with cryptocurrency, the harder it will be for governments to push the case of cryptocurrency control. There'll be too many legit uses by then.
I agree. There are a lot of the more 'traditional' style casino games out there that accept cryptocurrency as well. As more 'real world' businesses start accepting Bitcoin/cryptocurrency (like being able to buy a pizza with Steem) then the legitimacy will really start to go up!
awesome 2 things i love in 1 application. must try this.
Very fun. I'm sure you will enjoy :)
Thanks for the review!
