$300,000 Lost! - A True Story

in #bitcoin8 years ago (edited)

I've lost over $300K in bitcoin gambling and other games in the past 2 years! My life is A MESS

here is my story. Right now I owe my boss $1400, my car needs brakes, my bank account is - $700 and I don't know what the f*ck is going to happen next. My life is a whirlwind of disaster.

It all started with live poker, loved the game, was great at it! My tournament record is ridiculous; 54 tournaments 7 first places, 10 final tables. Went to play bigger tourneys for $600 each but never could land a big one. Oooh lemme try online poker! Wow, $100,000 guaranteed tourneys! Multi-Tables! Some days I was making $1800 an hour multi-tabling $2-4 and $5-10 no limit! Then 6 months later $-50,000 gone..... Then online poker shuts down in USA, no way to get my money back ..... grrr.

I keep searching for ways to play but to no avail. Then I found bitcoin....wut?? Crazy magic internet money? OK! Tried some poker sites with bitcoin, but they weren't very good. Googled bitcoin gambling. Found my favorite site, just-dice. Turned .3 btc into 4-6.5 btc several times when bitcoin was like $900. I hit the 5,000x and 1,000x times multiplier, and i hit several times! Did i mention when I have INSANE luck sometimes,.... sometimes. I pull off crazy wins out of nowhere for huge amounts. Then for some reason I play bigger, faster, crazier and lose it all. This has happened over 40 times in the past 3 years.

After losing about $8k I actually quit for 6 months or so. Tried to pay off my credit card debt, but just wasn't working fast enough. I grew impatient, wanted a better life. Sooooo I googled more bitcoin gambling. Found betcoin.tm - Turned .3 btc into.... no joke, 107 BTC! Tried to withdraw: "please contact support" What???! They said there were security problems with my account and needed to investigate further.Bullshit. After several weeks of emailing them the kept giving me the runaround, wouldn't pay me, so i got drunk and gambled it all.

Well that's that. Party over. Suck. Check my bitcoin balance on blockchain.info .34 btc. Shit. However, while on blockchain.info I notice many many transactions on the blockchain going to something called Luckybit red. What the hell. So I google "luckybit" found a new gambling site! Go me! As usual I play and win 8.5 btc!!!

Wow crazy. Ok. Now I am hooked. For the next 8 months after finding luckybit, I lost over 110 btc, @ $60,000.

never hit their 999x multiplier.

kept playing. Played at work, Played at Home. Played anytime I could.

Descend into madness.

kept getting credit cards.

started draining my families bank account after mine was empty.

another $20,000 more. Gone. Gone. Gone.

Go to a therapist.

Go to Gamblers Anonymous.

Stop for a month.

look up other bitcoin gambling sites. Find primedice! Ohh nice layout I like it. Play some, win some. Win 20 BTC. Immediately go back to luckybit. Lose it all.

The next whole year after that, is all a blur. I can't even remember how many loans I took out from online lenders, at least $42,000 worth after all of the above happened. I can't count how many times I've had 7, 14, 24 even 40 BTC in my wallet. It would never last long.  Why couldn't i just play slow, why did I have to get soo crazy???!!

All could have been great!

But somehow i just keep messing up.

Keep destroying myself.

About 2 to 3 years of my life gone.

Credit Rating: Screwed

Funds: $-2100

what the f*ck..........................................

Usually my upvotes count for alot of money, but for some reason it wouldn’t give you any. So sorry. Getting out of gambling addiction is tough. There are places where the odds are more in your favour than poker. Gold, stocks, bitcoin. You can still lose alot, but a bar of gold will never go to zero and you can enjoy daily price changes.

I feel at home with this article. After leaving military service, I became addicted to drugs and alcohol. I developed a huge gambling habit. At first I maintained it, and was making good money doing computer service. But it all caught up to me. I lost my wife, car, house, and was over 500k in debt.

I started breaking the law to make money, and was quickly locked up for 2 years. Luckily while I was in my ex wife filed bankrupcy for me and I was able to get out of my debt.

After leaving jail, I moved in with my mother, and turned all my finances over to her. It has helped alot, although once and a while I get my hands on 100 bucks and I end up at the casino or buying lottery. But as long as I turn all my cash over to her, I don't have the problem. Perhaps finding someone to hold onto your money, an accountability partner, would be of great help.

I hope my comment will help in some way.

Wow thank you. I am glad you have someone to help you. Your story helps me knowing I am not alone and that this can happen to other people as well. Stay strong brother.

i love that first sentence "I feel at home with this article."
..and as for the finance thing yeah not having money is a major plus ...well not so much "not having money" but not having at your disposal definitely helps thats my situation right now all my money gets saved and the only money i really do get to just blow is the btc i make from selling snails in the mail (snailsinthemail.com) and every penny of that im sure you can take a guess where that goes to....all the investors on whichever site im gambling btc on..but can gladly say im not blowing just about all my cash i make gambling these days:)

You can see here my gambling chart for jd https://steemit.com/gambling/@andu/over-a-year-and-a-half-of-gambling-here-are-my-stats.
Otherwise, aiming for the x999 on lucky bit is not pretty wise as the chance for hitting it is .00304% on dice is 0.1% for 990x, i would think of it more like a nice surprise but wouldn't aim for it specifically.
Oh the gambling of loans, I hate that so much, and after you have to pay from your pocket it gets even shittier since your money doesn't get you to do anything but to pay.
Gambling can be a problem for real and one that everyone should deal with quickly, gambling for fun as long as you can afford it it's fine, is when you go deeper and deeper when you should stop.

I liked this post a lot feel like it might open someones eyes who might be starting on the path to the same problem can totally relate with the "I can't count how many times I've had 7, 14, 24 even 40 BTC in my wallet. It would never last long. Why couldn't i just play slow, why did I have to get soo crazy???!!" lol..but hope things turn around for you soon man your cool people bro and deserve to have a better life just sometimes you gotta be in the dark for a while before you can see the light..sometimes longer then we'd hope for..

Thanks bud. That is one reason I posted it, so others may stop and learn from my mistakes. Next time anyone wins more than 30x their bankroll, I hope they stop and re-evaluate.

I honestly think you need to get help. You clearly have a problem with gambling. Whats worse is it has affected your family.

I admire your honesty, but I can't upvote because if you made anything here, it would feed your habit. Hope it works out though. Good luck!
