Firstly I would like to congratulate Blockshow Asia 2018 for an extremely spectacular line up of events for Day 1. It was a full turn out at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center Ballroom, Singapore. I had the opportunity to hear from many of the invited speakers on both the Main Stage and Second Stage their insightful opinions with regards to blockchain, cryptocurrencies and the future of this industry.
The Grand Opening started with a bang, with Jeffery Huang, singer and also Founder of Mithril, discussed about how businesses could leverage on new technologies including blockchain and Dapps.
Next, we also heard from Dr. Ben Goertzel, CEO at SingularityNET, talking about how decentralized and generalized AI could potentially be creating new ecosystems for machines to communicate effectively.
If the Grand Opening started with a bang, the Second Stage definitely ignited some fireworks. The Battle Time between Naeem Aslam, Bobby Lee and Jay Hwang on the topic, "Blockchain Stagnation Isn't Coming Anytime Soon...Or Is It?" started the show perfectly.
Jay Hwang sees the promise, hope and opportunities blockchain technologies have given to companies as a possible solution to current "middleman" issues. However Bobby Lee remained skeptical about blockchain business models predicting that "they will fail".
As far as many are hoping that the blockchain technology is a complete solution to many of today's problems, to strife for true decentralization has its barriers. Naeem Aslam stated that blockchain could improve learning over traditional systems however at this point we many be expecting too much out of it.
"Blockchain isn't a magic bullet," Naeem Aslam emphasized during Blockshow Asia 2018 held in Singapore.
Talks also include the address by Thomas Lee, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Fundstrat, on "Crypto Adoption Growth with Millennials: Why it has Nothing to Do With the Coins' Volatility". Lee reminded us to take a step back and look at the bigger picture and the current bear market remained healthy.
"[Year] 2018 is a correction of the 2017 market," said Thomas Lee during his talk at Blockshow Asia 2018, Singapore.
While coming up tomorrow will be Day 2 of the event, we look forward to more sparks and fireworks from the speakers as well as the EXP20 Startup Show, where companies and investors are sure to battle it out!
It was great networking with many attendees at the event including @chris4210, Founder of Payger, and Kavita Gupta from XinFin Fintech.
More updates, analysis and forecast to come as I try to sort and sift through the material as quickly as I can. Looking forward to meet more Steemit members! Do try to spot me at the event tomorrow or find me on Telegram @tysler
