On 31st October 2008 a stranger, Satoshi Nakamoto, wrote an email to a cryptographic mailing list on metzdowd.com announcing that he had worked on the creation of a new "peer-too-peer electronic cash system, with no trusted third party", ie to have created a digital cash that does not require a third party fiduciary and published a whitepaper. In particular (and it's the most incredible thing) he claims to have solved the problem of double-spending, an unsolvable problem up to now.
Obviously Satoshi Nakamato is only a pseudonym used to maintain anonymity, we do not know if it is a him, a she or a group.
January 2009 the source code was released and Nakamoto started to cooperate with some volunteers for the continuous development of the software.
He disappeared into thin air in May of 2010 when Gavin Andresen (one of his collaborators) wrote to him informing him that the CIA had asked him for an interview. Nakamoto is certainly a strange and controversial character, and it is curious that he has about 1,000,000 bitcoins and has never even spent a satoshi (the smallest bitcoin unit, which takes its name from its creator).
HERE you can see his bitcointalk profile.
Personally I think it is very interesting and useful reading the paper of Satoshi, which I recommend to anyone who really wants to understand what is the basis of bitcoin and blockchain and then maybe deepen the various aspects. I leave you then the links where you can read and download the pdf published by Nakamoto, both in English and in Italian:
Often I am also asked if there are books that I recommend to deepen and study the various aspects of bitcoin. I find very interesting books published by Andreas Antonopolous, one of the greatest experts in bitcoin and blockchain. First of all, Mastering Bitcoin published under free license:
On github you can read the English version by downloading the source code of each chapter:
Source Code Mastering Bitcoin (github)
Two other bestsellers, also by Antonopolous, are The Internet of Money Volume 1 and Volume 2
You can found on amazon.
Hacking finance is also very well written. The bitcoin and blockchain revolution "by Francesco De Collibus and Raffaele Mauro
You can found on amazon.
The books you are presenting are fundamentals for understanding and mastering bitcoin. Love them! Very kind from you for connecting Bitcoin with these books.
