WHAT IS BITCOIN?
Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency and a digital payment system
that allows you to send money from one person to another anywhere in the world without restrictions. Bitcoin is the future. Sooner Bitcoin will be the major Currency for transacting anywhere in the world.
Bitcoin address is your account number. That's what you give out to a merchant or individual when you want to buy bitcoin. I will show you how to do that shortly
HOW TO OPEN A BITCOIN ACCOUNT
There are several site where you can open bitcoin wallet. E.g Blockchain, coinbase, mycelium, Coinpayment etc. But we will be using Coinpayment as case study.
- Go to https://www.coinpayments.net/
- Click on "Get Started" or "Sign Up"
- Fill in your details and click on Register
- Check your mailbox for confirmation mail. Then click on the link and confirm your account
- Now you can Log in. Fill in your login details and login
- The 2fa code will be sent to your mailbox. Copy it and paste in the box and login
You just concluded creation of your Bitcoin Wallet.
HOW TO GENERATE YOUR BITCOIN ADDRESS
Remember Bitcoin address is your account number. Just as you give out your Bank account number to people so they can send you money, same is applicable here.
- Login into your Coinpayment Account
- Click on "Your Wallet"
- Click on "BTC Option"
- Click on "Deposit/ Receive
- Click on " Add New Deposit Address"
- Then your Bitcoin Address will be generated. Copy and save somewhere safe. It looks like this
