Is paypal for crypto ok? Coz here they charge a lot. It sure is convenient but the fees are high. And yes, we don't want to use banks. The vision of cryptocurrencies is to do away with them.
We have "over-the-counter" bitcoin and ethereum here. Maybe you would have it there too? It's not as convenient because you have to go there personally. They work like money exhangers so the buying and selling rate is just higher by about 4% and that's where they earn. No extra fees and direct to your wallet. And since it's a face-to-face transaction, you can be confident that they're not a scam. :)

that's the type of thing I'm looking for, unfortunately, there are not much in Europe, not enough yet, I hope soon there will be enough places. The bad thing about it is they take too much fees too, but everything has a price, even the guarantee that you know it's not a scam. Let me tell you about my recent experience online : coinbase is supposed to be the easiest, fastest way to get bitcoin or ethereum. Still I have signed up and when I try to upload my ID card pic (as anyway, on any kind of site, you will have to provide it when you wanna inject fiat currency), and it just doesn't work. It is the final verification stage and it really sucks. And by the way I heard loads of people saying how coinbase literally stole their money from their wallets, like disappearing after they get it from a transaction, some glitch or some bug, basically, it seems like there is no real care for the clients on that platform. But I still wanted to give it a try and see it from myself. As for now, I'm stuck in verification process, and I guess I will soon delete my profile. Another site is bitstamp, maybe a bit safer, yet I'm left to wait for verification of my ID card, hopefully it will get done because it's 2 weeks now... Bitpanda is making me wait too, because they didn't manage to hear me when we did a webcam verification, well, I guess their microphone or mine was deficient, but you get the point, and I will soon make an article on all these sites, it is worth telling my online experience on this crypto world. I'm still keeping faith I will soon manage to buy ethereum, hope gets you motivated I guess haha
I'm hoping everything will improve especially when cryptocurrency becomes mainstream. These companies are fairly new so hope they learn their lessons as more people come in. Yeah, with coinbase I've read of many people losing their bitcoin which were attributed to an "outsider" hacker. But I'm also suspicious, they just know who to target. Those I've read about had some really huge amounts of bitcoins. We should really spread out our investment so as to decrease the risk. If you can afford the fees, maybe better to buy now while ethereum isn't that huge yet. I believe you'll eventually recover the fees with your future (long term) profit.
Please write about your experience on these soon. I'm looking forward to that! :)
well, I don't have any experience yet, because all the sites where I've signed up I have to wait and wait for verification, but I agree with you, I'm craving to buy ethereum, bitcoin is not interesting at that price, maybe if it drops below 10 000 but not before, and then I will redistribute half of my ethereum into coins like ripple and litecoin, electroneum, things like that, to have eggs in all potential bursting zones
and the other half of the ethereum I keep holding it without looking , just not looking at it until next year, and then it will surely have become a high revenue , like a 2nd or 3rd figure earning for me, that's all that got me interested about cryptos, well not only that, but a good part of that, I hate "normal" investors and the Forex and Wall Street, so as I was looking for a way to earn passive income even when I sleep, this is the perfect choice; well , I trust ethereum, so I would surely hold it for a year at least, unless there's some accident, but I don't believe that; I will soon write a post about why I trust ethereum, with some summary of its technology I read in its whitepaper that you can download for free
Ethereum is promising especially long term. I have ETH but I haven't even read the whitepaper. I'm lazy and dependent on what people like you write, and compare different reviews. There was only one time I read a whitepaper and that was when I bought an ICO.
Ok, consider yourself lucky you have Eth, that is something I wanna hold too for a few years, the kind of investment I would trust without looking at it. Sometimes I watch and read people's views too, but I try to combine it with what I find not to be influenced by subjectivity, you just gotta add some whitepaper reading and go on bitcointalk, and you will have many points of view, when too many are in favor of a coin, you should trust it. That's my method I guess.
You can always learn more anyway, but you have to put yourself limits too not to end up saturated with data in your head and burning out ; that's my worst enemy as I just enjoy working to the full. But I'm still waiting for verification on some sites so as I wait I try to absorb as many information as I can. As you bought Ethereum, did you do on a site by credit card ? If so, can you tell me the name? I could try there too, I'm maximizing my chances to buy it as soon as possible. That's the type of site I'm looking for, unfortunately they're all making me wait for eternity before letting me be verified and starting to buy.
Thanks for sharing your method :) I will force myself to read the whitepaper! I also read on reddit, some time I pass by bitcointalk.
