The Internet of Work (part 1): A better way to earn bitcoin

in #bitcoin7 years ago (edited)

The Internet of Work needs to be invented. I am sick and tired of these websites with their tired old formats, taking huge cuts without adding any value. Most of these websites don't even care about the quality of their providers or if  something gets delivered at all. As long as they get their cut. We need something new, something better. We need to dis-intermediate freelance online work.

But how does one dis-intermediate work? We need to do for work what bitcoin has done for money. Create a protocol that quantifies work, communicates the value of work preferably peer to peer. We need to apply the principles of bitcoin to this new work protocol which are (taken from this wiki);

  • 21 million coins.
  • No censorship: Nobody should be able to prevent valid txs from being confirmed.
  • Open-Source: Bitcoin source code should always be open for anyone to read, modify, copy, share.
  • Permissionless: No arbitrary gatekeepers should ever prevent anybody from being part of the network (user, node, miner, etc).
  • Pseudonymous: No ID should be required to own, use Bitcoin.
  • Fungible: All coins are equal and should be equally spendable.
  • Irreversible Transactions: Confirmed blocks should be set in stone. Blockchain History should be immutable.

I think I am going to build this internet of work. But for it to work we need a fundamental departure of the intermediate model of online work. I think that the protocol needs to work for any employer not only those who outsource a bit of work. In fact an employer should be able to manages his employees of reports with this protocol. Any type of transaction should be able to be supported which means smart contracts. The protocol needs a unique selling point so that the Internet of Work can really work.

This post is part of a series you can read part two here.

 If you think I have missed something or if you have suggestions let me know in the comments. If you think if this might or might not work leave it in the comments. If you like my posts and want to see how I evolve my idea into a working prototype upvote this article and follow me please. Thanks!
