Pangea Jurisdiction Development Update 09 - March 2018
- A summary of March, 2018, and a preview for Q2 release themes
- Pangea Version 0.3.3
Updates since last month:
- Release cadence every three weeks is consistent; velocity is improving, automated text coverage increasing
- Team execution has improved dramatically, led by Florian Lenz (Chief Software Architect) and Kent Dahlgren (Chief Technology Officer)
- Under Kent’s and Florian's leadership, the engineering team is increasingly able to pursue strategic planning concurrent to sustained execution of tactical per-sprint work, allowing us to flesh out Q2 and early Q3 roadmap while developing software
- Implemented a functional proof of concept for "nations chat" in support of various other chat capabilities due in Q2
- Addressed large number of defects, performance improvements, etc
- The release of Pangea v.0.3.3
Pangea v. 0.3.3 available on the Android Appstore (Google Play)
- Pangea has been available since the v 0.3 and 0.3.1 release in the Android App Store (since mid-January). Search for Bitnation, and install it on your phone. We're currently working on updating the app store information
- We are working to put an iOS version on the iTunes store; currently navigating Apple's labyrinth of requirements regarding crypto-related software
TODO in the next few weeks ahead:
- The big story for Q2: Dapps. An in-product "Dapp store," enabling those who create "nations" to browse and install third-party Dapps in support of their aspiration to provide competitive governance solutions for their citizens, such as peer-to-peer security, cooperative insurances, education initiatives, etc.
- First Dapps: ability for two parties to enter into contractual agreement for goods or services; ability to rate one another for "Fitness," which is a multi-dimensional performance rating inclusive to responsiveness, customer service, efficiency, transparency, and so on; Arbitration framework, and possibly more
- Concurrent work: creation / release of Dapp Engine which will enable 3rd party developers to more easily plug their Dapps into the Bitnation architecture (with a companion API specification)
- The first two sprints (six total weeks, beginning 12 Mar and ending 27 Apr) we will be refactoring the mobile app in support of the functionality requirements uncovered during our chat POC, as well as UI and UX improvements. You will likely not see a release to the store until this work is complete, again: 27 April. After this, we return to the cadence of releases every three weeks
- Currently working with citizens in support of their move to adopt Bitnation Pangea to address their immediate needs as we pursue requirements for Dapps. One is Homeless Ecoville; an existing non-charity solution for homeless; Sisters of the Road, a homeless outreach that's also non-charity; and two large ancap communities numbering a few tens of thousands of citizens, and one large diaspora group containing many stateless people around the world.
A separate update will be available soon on our work with the early “incubated nations”.
