The Observation Point on the famous Southbank in London became home to “Crypto Connection” – the world’s first sculpture dedicated to the rapidly growing cryptocurrency ecosystem.

The sculpture was created by Italian contemporary artist Federico Clapis. Commissioned by Eidoo cryptocurrency exchange and crypto wallet provider, the artwork will be exposed to public observation for 10 days.

Three meter bronze piece encourages onlookers to think about the future of the global financial system and the influence that the blockchain technology may pose on the generations to come. The author have supplemented his work with the following accompanying description in his Twitter account:

“With this large bronze piece, the artist represents the profound prenatal bond between mother and son and anticipates the arrival of a hyper-connected generation, one whose synapses are genetically attached to a vast network and whose eyes will witness a constantly evolving reality.

What we perceive in the contemporary as a transient period, will be customary for the infants of tomorrow. This future generation will live a world where knowledge, relationships and even the economy will be lightened with the paradigms of the past but will vitally remain encrypted to those who will, sadly, fall behind. A crypto dimension to the concept of natural selection.”

Thus, the artist invites people to view the crypto hype from a different perspective. Combined with a provocative futuristic agenda, this classical sculpture in polished bronze stresses the dual nature of cryptocurrency itself as a fleeting illusory trend, yet built to endure. Many regard cryptocurrency issues as too “cryptographic” ones to be understood, but still too vibrant to be ignored altogether.

Cryptocurrencies bear the seeds of radical reconsideration of social structure’s fundamentals and thus, find their way into the world of art. For instance, French street artist Pascal ‘PBOY’ Boyart has been marking his artworks with QR-codes linking to his Bitcoin wallet, while also frequently using the symbol of Bitcoin in his pieces.
