"Dan has to pay his bills Jakub - he sold his personal holdings. Cryptonomex (the company) and Stan personally still own plenty of bitshares. The money Dan paid me for STEALTH was a very appreciated gesture of goodwill since the project couldn't be completed safely within the given timeframe in a way that I would get the income from it I was expecting. That would have been disastrous because I was expecting that income to fund other BitShares projects (which I have been working on while you were (somewhere?) on hiatus from BitShares activity (not answering Committee enquiries etc and leaving people in the lurch).

He sold his personal shares, which many others still here bitching have done long ago. And this HAD TO BE DONE in order partially to end the stalemate here at BitShares of those unwilling to pay workers. How was he supposed to hold a team together?

And how can you be so blind as to not see that a good deal of development money will go into the hands of BitShares project developers who simply take the trouble to post their projects and their progress on steemit.com? Or do you begrudge this workaround to get funding to the likes of KenCode and Fuzzy? (and others). Have you not noticed how well Cryptoctpus (known as rgcrypto here on this forum) has done on steemit.com? He has earned over $20,000 in just two weeks (after beating his head against the wall trying to online market BitShares earlier). I am pretty damn sure that he will be bringing his newfound funds and experience back to BitShares in the future (as will all the rest of us taking advantage of Dan's newly created opportunity).

Posting negativity here in this forum does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to add value to BitShares - but hey, it is helping to keep share prices down and I have been buying up bitshares on the cheap continuously for weeks. Thank you (I guess)."

Why does everyone say that Dan Larimer is a scam artist? Is anything very apparent?

Trolls will be trolls. The main reason why I hate being on forums is because we speculate too much on things. Let's just be a community that supports each other.. a better one than the bitcoin community.. all projects spearheaded by Dan had been a blessing.. and the values of the core assets on platforms he created are already market-driven... and we the community that supports it must join hands in the marketing of bitshares, its functionalities, and support the work that continues to be proposed. We all know the truth: The Bitshares Blockchain is a gamechanger! Now let us make it work and be the number 1.

"bringing his newfound funds and experience back to BitShares..."

You should probably let him speak for himself on this. If this is true, I'd expect his votes to drop drastically.

You are of course right, I should let him speak for himself. But out of curiosity, why would you expect his votes to drop drastically were he wanting to go back and support BitShares? That doesn't make sense to me.

Because this isn't BitShares! This is Steem, and we're here to build Steem. If the funds he raises isn't going to be used to support steem, rather some other coin we don't care about, then I for one will stop voting for him. The entitled feeling of the BitShares community is getting really old... Don't count on any vote from me in the future.

I support the ENTIRE graphene based ecosystem. Not just Steem or BitShares, but projects like Peerplays as well. You are sounding a mite myopic. Have you had your Vision checked lately?

I think there is some important content to be created around HOW and WHY Bitshares and Steem are part of the same ecosystem, beyond founding connections...

The community is obviously different, and I think I understand why they're connected, but @onceuponatime -- there needs to be a concerted effort to connect those dots and get any sort of buy-in from the Steem community.

He has earned over $20,000 in just two weeks (after beating his head against the wall trying to online market BitShares earlier).

You mean here on steem? Please stop throwing numbers like this around, it'll backfire once the majority realises that this is not correct and final amount will be a lot less

Yes, I mean here on steem. I have posted more than he, and have not earned anywhere near as much. But he is a pro, and his hard work is paying off here. What makes you think his earnings "will be a lot less"?

That's because now we all know you're just going to take the funds and toss them at BitShares. Too bad, so sad.

He is a pro. For sure man.

I am not counting my chicken before they hatch. But i'll throw an income disclaimer to cover my ass.

Disclaimer: Steemit does not guarantee or promise any particular result or income from the use of the information presented herein. I read that Disclaimer a few times, but I'm not sure what it means :-)

Since you brought here the discussion that belongs to bitshares forum, just for the record, here is jakub's response to your totally misconstrued rant:

It's amazing how you've manged to twist my words.
Where did I say that Dan had done anything wrong? Where did I say he had any obligation to stay with BitShares? Where did I express any frustration directed at Dan?
All I said is that Dan is gone and that for me it's a good thing provided the community is able to acquire another leader and rebrand.
Does this really amount to "posting negativity"?

The discussion "belongs" to bitshares forum? I am active on that forum and have read the entire thread. I was still on that forum every day when Jakub was mia (at a time of critical need when an opportunity was lost because of his inaction). I posted here MY OWN WORDS from that forum. I have not claimed any copyright on my words, but even if I had, they are mine.

I have been contributing to BitShares since there was nothing but a Whitepaper (having tipped bitcoin to both Dan and Stan for their early articles on Let's Talk Bitcoin. I own a large stake in bitshares, I am acquiring more, and I help with liquidity in smartcoins. I have funded, from my own pocket, innumerable bitshares initiatives.

You are out of your league junior.

onceuponatime, I really appreciate your devotion to BitShares (all the more that I care a lot about the concept) but it seems to me that you are currently so stuck in your mindset that you fail to understand what's going on around you.

All I can offer is this quote: "If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry."

That quote is all you can offer? Even when I was living on the streets I had more to offer than that. The poverty of your imagination may be hard to overcome.
