Bad news for all BitShares holders (I am one of them). BitShares will be deleted on Bittrex on October 13, 2017.
A huge sell off is going on right now.
-21% at this moment.
Why does Bittrex delete BitShares? I don't know... Maybe because Bitshares is a competitor? Bittrex has not issued an explanation (yet).
The solution: Use the BitShares decentralized exchange and never worry about it being delisted ever again.
Why? anybodody knows?
There's some interesting comments at ~~~ embed:BitShares/comments/73ynmq/bittrex_to_remove_bts_on_october_13th_2017/. In particular, the ones about Ada. I did take the opportunity to look into Ada; it looks interesting. I ended up buying some. I've also bought some more BTS as well. There were some great BTS loan offers on Poloniex several hours ago; if BTS drops down again I expect there will be more great offers. reddit metadata: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 ~~~
i guess so, they compete bittrex... 100% upvote :)
This came as quite a shock and I looked for news on the reasons why without any luck. I think you hit the nail on the head here, they are a competitor, and a competitor that is gaining momentum. I imagine they thought it best to act now to protect what market share they could.
Looks like same fate will befall steem sooner than later.
I'am wondering why by far the highest trading volume for BTS is happening outside of the DEX ^^ Bitshares would be way better if traders would leave Polo and Trex (trading volume-wise).
Quick Update:

Didn't see this coming. Thanks for the info.
Dang... this is not so welcome news! Seems kind of out of nowhere? Oh well, like you mentioned, it's time to move to exclusively using OpenLedger and other next generation exchanges. I predict the price will recover after this initial sell off, but how long it takes to happen is anyone's guess.. thanks for the quick update @penguinpablo..
No wonder they chose that date... It's Friday the 13th!
Time to withdraw! @penguinpablo

Well I was meaning to start using bitshares anyway.... As far as how this affects the price it sucks though
Many guys on Bittrex hold Steem ,this move might push Steem price down by more than 50%.
Thanks for the heads up....Ill be adding to the selloff 😑
Glups.... no good news
😑
Well... Here we go again. Your move, @stan
It's just been delisted from Bittrex? What's going on?
Is it Bittrex banning as it's a competitor, or have BTS broken the law?
What a surprise, I did not expect it. I will be careful. Thanks for the info.
Bad news. Thank you for the update.
Thanks you pablo. I am going straight to BitShares telegram to get more information about it!
Holy crap. That was totally unexpected :-(
Maybe Bittrex should spend more time worrying about getting their tooling up to the standards of Bitfinex and less time adding crap like ADA and removing Bitshares.
Man that sucks.
That hurts a lil bit...
yeah , maybe it is the competition!
It is surprising news @penguinpablo. Why they decided to delist?
