Observation from this week
This section will highlight any observations made while analysing the data.
Alfred Garcia (Bitshares Core Dev) has been working to maintain the open issues and has closed some issues this week and is very close to being able to close the socket spamming issue plaguing many developers. Ken has also suggested that Alfredo maybe working on new features such as 'Dividends, Black Swan prevention and recovery, advanced Trading functions to DEx (Margin Trading, Stop Loss, Trailing Stop etc.), selling/dumping a UIA that you no longer want, Worker proposal upgrade (as per Data and Jonny's ideas), Recurring and Scheduled Payments feature, make it so that FBA's don't always need a hardfork, and a lot more'. If you have feature requests that you would like added to the list for community approve please contact @chris4210. See the Full update HERE
Peerplays outreach and education coordinator, Robyn Wilkie has started working with the PBSA team this week; based in Nova Scotia Canada; Also in Peerplays news Sports and Politics has published an article titled 'Peerplays Sports Betting Could “Uberize” Industry for Millions' which you can read HERE
Bitkaptial (The Turkish Lira gateway to the Bitshares Decentralized Exchange) CEO Jian Jolly has spoken this week about a pending urgency for Bitshares development and the need for Bitshares to stand out from the crowd. As part of this statement he has committed his team and their resources to assisting the growth and further development of the platform; Bitkaptital will migrate from their current hosted/customised wallet to the official Bitshares reference wallet. As part of this migration they will first focus on bug testing all wallet features on multiple operating systems and browsers; any issues will be logged as github issues for action by the developers. Jian has also noted that they have started raising Bitshares awareness via their website Coin-Turk (the Coindesk of Turkey) and is looking forward to doing interviews with the founders of other Bitshares business. Last but not least Jian hinted at an ongoing development for a 'trader's' platform built on Bitshares; that will abstract a lot of the complexities of the network away and focus solely on a platform that will allow users to trade via the DEX (This is proposed to work via python-bitshares library being developed by @xeroc).
RyanRFox (@fox) creator of the Microsoft Azure (BaaS) Bitshares template has created a testnet template to help with rapid deployment of witness node on the Microsoft Azure platform. I personally have used this template and it is a huge time saver and his efforts are greatly appreciated. Find more information on the Template and a quick start guide HERE
Christoph Hering (@chris4210) Co-Founder & CEO of Bitshares Munich is hosting a Stresstest Setup Party on Tuesday March 14th at 3 pm UTC (1 day before the actual stresstest). During the party their will be help on hand to get anyone interested setup on a testnet witness ready for the testnet flooding/stresstest on March 15th. Easy setup is expected due to the Azure template created by @fox (Azure is not the required platform, its just easy)
Bitshares testnet STRESSTEST is being conducted on the 15th of March 2017 at 3PM UTC. Xeroc has been leading the charge and has also developed a real-time stats page that we can keep an eye on the progress. Find out more about the test and find the resources HERE. In the lead up testnet witnesses have been running personal (not coordinated) tests in preparation. So far the test net has demonstrated 917 TPS (Transactions Per second) - these results were obtained from a single witness node!!. You can watch the testnet transaction HERE
BitUSD is up 49% Week on Week with a Market Cap of 180k USD; This is in part to a large effort in boosting the BitUSD market headed up by Bitshares user BitCrab
Ronny Boesing (@bloggersclub) from OpenLedger has attended the Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference in Tallinn, Estonia
OpenLedger will be hosting an ICO for the Internet of Coins project. The ICO/Fundraiser will start on March 21st, 2017. The news was released in a blog post that can be found HERE - The following is an extract from that post 'Essentially a wallet, Internet of Coins is a secure way to store cryptocurrencies and smart contracts, and trade them without centralized exchanges. With an easy-to-use interface to manage multiple coins and assets, users of Internet of Coins need no advanced technological knowledge to work with cryptocurrencies. Furthermore, the platform acts as an interface to smart contract systems, decentralized communications, and distributed notary functions.'
