See, I miss my blackberry, and even its camera. The problem that I have with phone cameras today is that the image really looks processed, to the point that it has no character.
Then there is the cost, I thought my blackberry was expensive, but that is nothing when we are talking about these glass slabs that we have today.
Which brings me to another point, all phones look the same, and that's incredibly boring. I want funky phones, phones that have keyboards, or open source pogo pins. The problem is that phones are built like embedded systems, NOT like desktops or even laptops. That has made them small and thin, but also extremely expensive to develop.
Companies like Fairphone (which don't sell on this side of the pond) are great, but even they have most of the system on a single motherboard that doesn't have serviceable parts.
Malware
This isn't even getting started into the fact that the majority of modern computing is just malware. Software that includes "features" that aren't in the base function. Like calling home when you do anything, or tracking your location when it is just a menu app.
Anyway, I don't want to talk about that right now. Maybe I will try to find some time to actually work with my Pinephone that is sitting in its box behind me. Or maybe, at the minimum, do some research to see if there are any good-to-great projects out there that I can support financially.
That's all, have a great week
