maybe you should stop identifying yourself by the pigments in your skin in the first place ... it strikes me a lot how most people who cry "equality" use their difference as an argument ... i live in a small very rightwing town, i have been stopped and frisked and arrested for "walking" drunk or "looking at a car" and im not even black. Foreigners here stand out because they identify themselves by "being black" or "being muslim" or whatever "being gay" ... theres a business in town here run by two gay guys however who simply don't mention it, make noise about it or blatantly propagate it
they act "normal" , and no one is bothered
i'm not saying i don't feel you but i feel its the problem of many, pushing the difference to the front then crying about wanting equal treatment , if you catch my drift here, personally i could care less about gender equality or black or white or muslim or whatever, the right person in the right place for the right job, not a 50/50 equally politically correct workforce where half the people are there for the wrong reasons and not skill
geekiness isnt really appreciated here either, manual labour is what REAL men do ... so FUCK 'em ...
as for the rest, there's too many people who abuse their status as being "black", being "gay", being "muslim" being whatever it is that is supposed to make them the underdog and that especially is oil on the fire ... there's a little gang of 12 year old youtube gangsters here, with the alphadog being a little black kid ... you can't say anything to him or you're racist "because he's black" ... he's ofcourse the cool kid , seems to have more money than the rest and always at the center of attention, abusing the fact that he's minor, abusing the fact that he's black, dragging the rest along and effectively reinforcing the stance of this already rightwing (if not outright racist after the past 20 years) town, not making it any better
by being a stereotype so what i wanna say is
why not just be "you" ... instead of "white" or "black" or "gay" or "church of the spaghetti monster" or something,
like just 'you' , it would be easier if the sun stopped shining, thats why i like the night, in daylight all the ugly comes out of every pore and crack and crevice, but everything is equal in the dark
i love the dark
the night, the moon
the quiet :p
;-)
Well this should start an interesting dialog. Firstly, you do realize you're contradicting your thesis right? You start off by saying I should be oblivious to my "pigment" then speak on the "black kid" as if he should alter his behavior as not to reinforce stereotypes about black people. Which is it? Should he be himself or not? And it seems you have a chip on your shoulder regarding race. Had you read my article. My entire article was prefaced by saying how I'm identified by the world around me. So if I'm to just be myself and not identify with my race or gender, I'd be an idiot. If I was running low on gas and travelling cross country , I wouldnt stop in your town. Why? Because I'm aware that the world labels me as something. Only the privileged can walk around unbothered here in America. But I bet you'd be very aware of your pigment if you were walking around in Africa or Iraq wouldn't you? lol Yeah you would. It's instinctual. Ever read the Emperor's Clothes? And I love all things dark by the way. You should see some of my music videos. People think I worship Satan, not knowing that Satan worshippers are atheists that worship self. smh lol
