Jupiter statue with Blender

Progressing on my Blender journey, I saw this interesting tutorial by Ducky 3D and I really liked the way he presented the model, so I gave it a try.

This was the end result but it's a bit different from the tutorial since I always try to personalize the learning experience.

I also wanted to experiment a little with the resources available in Blender and decided to use a Menger Sponge object instead of the "museum" box. Depending of the chosen level, the Menger Sponge can really become a complex object. Sadly the standard object is kind of "fat" so it kind of overtakes the scene.

Somehow I felt like the scene could benefit from more light so I added some light sources to the composition.

Still the enclosing object seemed too large so I removed some geometry tying to approximate the initial box.

I'm sure this image can benefit from some further processing, but as the render goes this was a satisfying result.

The journey goes on ...
