Delighted to review Actifit for @blind-spot's #blindtest this week.
About Actifit.
Actifit is an App that you can download on to your Android or ios device and track your daily steps and activity. While there are many other Apps that do this, the benefit with Actifit is that it links to the STEEM blockchain. Users track their daily activity and then post a report each day with some commentary about their days activities (or whatever they want). Provided that at least 5,000 steps have been recorded, the @actifit account will upvote the post. You will also receive AFIT tokens that will have a value and be able to trade for STEEM and have many other uses in the not to distant future. The size of the vote depends on a number of factors, including the quality of your report, the activity count, and your user rank. You can delegate to @actifit to earn more AFIT tokens.
What do I think?
I love it. Actifit is probably my favourite dApp on STEEM. The rewards are great, and not overly challenging to earn. It motivates you to go for a walk, move around some more and improve your general fitness. The best part however is the community. The Actifit community is so supportive and encouraging, and regular challenges such as @wil.metcalfe's #automaticwin add to the community.
Wearable integration.
Currently, you can link your Fitbit device and sync it to actifit. This is an excellent feature, as I found that running the Actifit app on my phone for long periods drained the battery a bit. The linking is fairly straight forward, but there can be a little trap to fall in to. I had to set up the link again when my phones OS had an upgrade and set it up wrong. After 2 days off stuffing around and trying to sort it out myself, I finnally asked on the Actifit discord for help. @mcfarhat (the founder of actifit) jumped in and guided me through the fix in no time, with great patience. It is a credit to the team how active and responsive they are on Discord, and another great reason to get involved with Actifit.
Anyway, the team are working on more device integration, and even have a potential partnership with a major device maker (Garmin) in the works that goes well beyond just integration (think using your AFIT tokens to buy actual real physical stuff). The potential uses are massive, and should give a solid intrinsic value to the token.
Token Value.
This is of course unknown. The token is not currently tradeable so valuing it is virtually impossible. The Actifit team do have a schedule, with target values that they have published and use to calculate distribution rates and allocations for new signups and so on. Here is the current schedule:
During a recent conversation on the Discord, @mcfarhat indicated that these prices would be reviewed in light of the ongoing bear market and SMT uncertaiinty, and that using one of the alternative token systems being worked on is on the cards.
Potential.
Huge. Some of the key points are:
- Easy to use access point to the STEEM blockchain.
- Rewarding for everyday use.
- Fantastic community of daily users supporting each other.
- Considered, planned development, with a very responsive team.
- Targeting a massive and growing industry.
- Potential for partnerships is huge.
- Many use case and demand drivers for the AFIT token are in the works.
