I bet every steemian have experienced this.
You spend hours drafting out a post, you explore all the best ideas on that topic and fine tune it.
And then nothing happens.
You get only a handful of upvotes with even lesser comments, and the worst, it becomes a fertile ground for Spammers to leave annoying comments.
It's pretty frustrating right?
You may be wondering, why are people not engaging with my post?
It is possible that your post is lacking something crucial, an important ingredient that it needs to really stand out.
A clear destination.
Why Your Post Needs a Clear Destination.
Your blog post needs to take your readers on a journey and it should be one worth taking. It should also have a point of departure and a clear destination.
So where exactly do you want to take your readers, do you want to give them a new Information, or inspire them. Maybe you want to provide them with information that will transform them.
Each of these destinations have different approaches and route.
How To Signpost Your Post's Destination
The first thing that should make the destination of your post clear is your headline.
If you write a headline that throws your reader off-track, you just killed your post.
Writing a headline that points your reader to a clear destination is vital for maximum engagement.
A Good Example:
This headline worked because it acts as a compass directing you to a clear destination.
Another thing you should pay attention to is your introduction. It is important for yor introduction to work hand in hand with your headline.
You can start your post with a story a quote or any other thing that will captivate your reader.
The Top 3 Destinations For your Reader
There are always three destinations that makes your readers journey worthwhile
Learning
If your destination is for your readers to learn something, this means that by the end of the post, they would have either gained new information or learnt a new way of doing something.
Posts like this are often challenging as they reqire you to make the language simple so that your readers will fully grasp what you are talking about
Inspiration
There are some uplifting ways to inspire your readers. You can tell them a story, you can share a quote or even give them a challenge.
The key component of an inspirational post is that it gives your readers hope of achieving something they feel is hard or impossible.
Transformation
What we see as dying caterpillars are often evolving butterflies. A transformational post is that one which is hard to forget by those anyone who reads it.
It normally contains a profound message, which is sometimes illustrated by an unforgettable story.
It always contains elements of survival against all odds and it always change the life of one who reads it.
Few Posts on Steemit are transformational and it is up to you and me to change that.
If you want your readers to always track your blog for new post (Hey @sandstorm). then creating posts with clear destinations is a must and it is something worth learning.
So bookmark this post and always come back to it for guidance as you start the journey of enchanting your readers.

This is vital! No one will pay you with their attention if your vision isn't clear. Taking the time to look at someone's post is in a sense letting them take the wheel so it's best both parties know where they are headed...

I am brand new to steemit -- but I have been a writer for decades. The message in this post is absolutely vital. Resteemed -- FWIW, which for now may not be much ... but someday ...
Hello @enchantedspirit.
Thanks for reading and the resteem.
@ogochukwu
You're welcome @ogochukwu. This post was well worth reading -- and a good reminder for us all to keep our audience in mind in what we create. Your readers, after all, are your clients -- your "customers" -- and you need to provide them with something informative ... or inspiring ... or thought-provoking -- or entertaining -- something of value for the time they take to read what you wrote.
That's the transaction between the writer and his audience -- between you and your readers. It's the foundation of any business ... any relationship. And as with those, it takes work and trust, integrity and mutual respect.
Have a terrific week!!
You're post is very helpful thanks for sharing...

This is great!!! I am in the process of writing a post now which I know is going to take me a little while to write - I am glad that I read your post first .. I am going to use these destinations in my post :) Thank you so much my Steemit Friend .. Have a SUCCESSFUL start to your week!! SUNSHINE247
Good stuff. Excellent points. Thanks for the reminder.
The good writing has two elements. First, engine. Read writing that has the engine like a person riding the elevator, does not stop if it has not arrived at the destination (end of writing). Second, meaning. As good as anything we write if it does not give something valuable to the reader then the writing is bland. I think so @ogochukwu
very good insight
