Smart Containers - Project Introduction

The Shipping industry is one of the major pillars of the world economy. No country in the world is completely self-sufficient and there is always constant need for goods to be transported between countries to satisfy human needs. The goods being shipped are of different types and sizes.

Smart Containers is a decentralized platform that aims to provide safe reliable shipment services for perishable goods using its innovative smart container units while also providing solutions to the problems of inefficiency that is existent in the present world logistics systems.

Perishable goods are those products whose quality can depreciate irreversibly over time due to environmental conditions like temperature. Examples may include food products like seafood, meat and it's by-products Or pharmaceutical products These goods often have a reasonably short lifespan and should be kept in specialized containers when being shipped over both long and short distances.

Why Is Smart Containers Needed?

To highlight the reasons why Smart containers platform is needed, one must first highlight the challenge it is providing a solution to.

The major challenge in the transportation of perishable goods is the fluctuation in temperature during shipping between its original points of shipment and its destination. The transfer from refrigerating trucks to shipping containers and vice versa, and then the containers used by different courier services, all of which have a different change in temperature of which the effect is eventually felt on the product itself.

Pharmaceutical Products: Pharmaceutical products are probably the most delicate of this group as changes in temperature can alter their chemical composition which can render them ineffective or even make them unsafe for use.

Food Products: The shipping of food and food products between different countries faces the challenges of temperature fluctuations during transportation and with the vast majority of these food being transported being perishable food like seafood, meat, vegetables and their products, all of which require a controlled temperature to remain safe for consumption.

Considering billions of dollars are spent on medical research yearly and on the development of this products, combined with the size of the world food business, the billions being recorded in loses in the form of wasted drugs, and spoiled food due to improper transportation conditions is not acceptable and Smart containers is providing a much-needed solution.

Smart containers provide the solution to shipping of food and pharmaceutical products with its already existing unique and high tech container units called "SkyCells". Unlike most cryptocurrency projects which are just creating their projects from scratch and using technologies that are still untested in the real world, smart containers is different.

Smart containers is utilizing high tech "SkyCell" container units which are a product of the SkyCell company, which is a part of the smart containers project. This company has been existing for a couple of years and has already been successful in providing pharmaceutical shipping containers worldwide.

With the aim of solving the multi-billion dollar's problem in the world's food and pharmaceutical products shipping industry, Smart containers is utilizing the blockchain as an infrastructure to take this technology globally while also solving the major problem of logistics in the industry.

Providing shipping containers solution is only providing a solution to half the problem and smart containers is taking the initiative to kill two birds with one stone.
