The Blockchain Education Network (BEN) is excited to announce that we have onboarded 5 new universities from Turkey, all within a few weeks of each other. The leaders of these blockchain clubs took the initiative, inviting each other to join BEN, and helping to onboard their members to join our existing community of more than 2,350+ BEN students and alumni.

In collaboration with these clubs in Turkey, not only will BEN begin translating our blockchain curriculum into Turkish, but we will also be able to bring the Turkish community together through online and offline intercollegiate events. Participation in these events, on top of the community and event partnerships we will facilitate in Turkey, will help integrate the Turkish student communities into the greater blockchain ecosystem. We will also enable students from these 5 universities to travel to international blockchain conferences where they will be welcome to stay at BEN airbnbs.

Connecting with these clubs in Turkey is another step forward in BEN’s mission to spur blockchain adoption around the world. Turkey has massive potential to be the newest center for global finance due to its positioning between the East and the West. An ING survey showed that 62% of Turkish people have very positive feelings toward cryptocurrencies and the future of this technology. Another survey by Statista found that 20% of Turkey’s population, around 16.8 million people, already own and are using cryptocurrency. These statistics demonstrate how the interest in and demand for blockchain innovations will only continue to rise in Turkey.
The 5 Turkish clubs that have joined BEN play an important role in raising even more awareness about the benefits and uses of blockchain technology.

Aybars Dorman, President of the BAU Blockchain Technology Club succinctly shared the common goal of these clubs “to raise awareness on the blockchain technology within the universities, informing students about blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.” Ümit Güven Akçakaya, President of the Kocaeli University Blockchain Club, added that they are also excited to “participate in training and seminars, and to receive material support in organizing events”.
Sabancı University Blockchain Club
Over the course of the past six years, BEN has grown from just a few universities in the US and Canada to over 70 university blockchain clubs around the world. Each new blockchain club that joins BEN is an opportunity to reach literally thousands of new students and community members in those cities.
