It's 2017, there exists a form of limitation through advertisements and tracking software delivered to consumers discreetly from centralized internet companies. The internet was meant to be a public & private utility used for sharing and communicating information. Today, If you want to watch a video, sometimes you have to sit through an advertisement in order to view that content. Yes, the publisher of the video receives some compensation but it ultimately costs you time and money (in data). There needs to be a freer and faster internet. I'm willing to bet that startup companies currently known as blockchain cryptocurrency companies are going to help deliver a freer, truer, more secure, faster internet. One such company is called Brave. They have a cryptocurrency advertising & marketing incentive known as Basic Attention Token (BAT) and they are aiming to distribute a better system of advertisement in order to deliver better internet experience. I for one use the Brave Browser on both mobile and PC, and it has already saved me an incredible amount of time while surfing the web. Rumor is that Brave will be updating their Brave Browser with what's known as Mercury soon. Mercury allows Brave users to send and receive BAT (Basic Attention Tokens) with a built in wallet. BAT is built on Ethereum's blockchain as an ERC20 compliant token. Brave has a lot of potential and I for one see them expanding a lot next year.
Another company that is helping to push the Web 3.0 (and are literally building a new network to do so) is Substratum (SUB). Substratum has a great team behind them and are thinking light years ahead. They're aiming to build a decentralized internet by connecting users through a network of nodes that enables them to send and receive Substrate (SUB) as a utility in powering websites through hosting. Basically it just makes so much sense as a network to connect the ability to connect in a network. Instead of hosting a website through traditional centralized web hosting services. You'll be able to connect to a safe network of users to power your website through their computers.
Basically, the Substratum network will allow you to earn money in the form of Substrate (SUB) for hosting websites. Substrate is built on top of the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC20 compliant token. One of the best parts about Substratum is that it will allow people to keep their domain names and their website will be able to reach both the traditional centralized web along with the new decentralized Web 3.0. Eventually most micro transactions along the Substratum network will be powered by atoms which is just basically a decimal of a Substrate. Atoms are to substrate what cents are to dollars.
I for one am excited about this blockchain and have invested in Substratum. This network could potentially reach 100 million computers in the next few years once rolled out.
The first version of the Substratum Node is expected to be released sometime around late 2017 or early 2018.
