If I am going to be honest, I am a bit skeptical of just how much the Blockchain can actually effect change in society. I hope this sense of optimism I see here will turn out to be accurate. However, people were optimistic about the Internet itself and it has become much more centralized than many had ever dreamed it could be.
It seems to me that we have a lot of work ahead of us to make this technology revolutionary and to prevent it being subverted for hostile intent.
As for it replacing wage slavery, that seems a bit unlikely. AI are on the way, and they are being used to "eliminate" wage slavery. And by eliminate, I mean remove the "wage" part from "wage slavery".
The biggest problem I see in the future, other than climate change, isn't the continued existence of wage slavery, it's what economic model will replace it? A utopian society of plenty, where everyone's basic needs are met? Maybe. Hopefully.
However if history is any guide, such a future will only exist if we fight for it. We cannot sit around twiddling our thumbs and expect the blockchain or any other technology to change the world in our favor, for us. The blockchain is merely a tool. It cannot change the world without us to decide how it shall be used.
The only change that will make a difference would be multiple revenue streams for each person. This is what decentralization will bring. It will allow more freedom of choice.
