In years to come, blockchain has the tendency to have such a positively dramatic impact on different industries and many aspects of technology, it being a technology in itself.
As an emerging technology of the future, it has very obvious usefulness at the moment in various fields, common societal processes and professions including record keeping, car sales, cryptocurrencies and sports management among others.
If you have ever heard of or came across cryptocurrency most especially bitcoin or ethereum then you should have a general idea of what the term “blockchain” insinuates.
What is Blockchain
For the sake of those that don’t know, below is a definition of blockchain offered by Don and Alex Tapscott
“The blockchain is an ”incorruptible” digital ledger of economic transactions that can be programmed to record not just financial transactions but virtually everything of value.”
In simple speak, a blockchain can be considered as an open ledger or database displaying records for the public to see.
In the earlier definition, emphasis is placed on the term “incorruptible”, blockchain can be said to be incorruptible in the sense that the information stored on it is available for the public to see, but cannot be altered by anyone.
In light of that, I’d love to talk about how blockchain can affect the field of search marketing in the approaching times.
What can blockchain do for Search and Digital Marketing
Since information on blockchain transactions is available publicly for everyone to see, it is easy for anyone looking for a target audience to gather data about their target audience from a blockchain.
For example, accessing the bitcoin blockchain you can know who paid for what and who received payment for that through memos and unrestricted transactional data available on the platform, you can then utilize this information to determine who to target for any information you might want to pass across.
Blockchain can also be used to take out the middlemen role advertising companies and networks play in internet advertising. The structure of a blockchain will make it easy to verify metrics involved in internet advertising such as the authenticity of clicks in CPC ads and so on, whilst saving money at the same time.
As more features and developments are being added to the blockchain technology and it takes on wider recognition new ways will emerge for it to be used in the search marketing industry, for now let’s keep tabs on BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY.
