A medical university in Taipei has opened Blockchain powered platform aimed at bringing improvement in record-keeping process, according to a news posted on the website of Taipeitimes.
The report says Taipei Medical University Hospital has rolled out the online platform, named as Healthcare Blockchain Platform, to support the government’s Hierarchical Medical System policy.
It will also enable patients to access their medical records online very easily.
The hospital said:
“On the platform, people have a complete set of all their medical records, including high-resolution medical images, lab results, and clinical and health exam information. Using smart contracts, hospitals and clinics can request and authorize patient record sharing easily and securely,”
According to the hospital announcement, over 100 community-based clinics, which use blockchain technology, have been included in the project.
Hospital superintendent Chen Ray-jade said because of the blockchain technology, the risk of security breaches in the hospitals would be reduced as well as people would not need to go through a troublesome process for inter-hospital transfers.
