Listen to the people around you. You never know what you’ll learn from and how you’ll get inspired by conversations.

In early 2016, I’ve had a conversation with people on the ways in which we could enable mass adoption of blockchain tech. One of the suggestions was in the field of gaming. But blockchain was still nascent and we weren’t sure of its transaction capabilities.

When BitShares 2.0 was introduced, I saw its capacity to support mass adoption. That is when we looked at the possibilities of building a prototype of a game that’s simple, appealing to the masses, and incorporating blockchain. Simply Rock-paper-scissors was a nice universal test case!

I spoke with Fabian Schuh, Dr.-Ing. to explore if it’s feasible to build this game in BitShares. As the conversation proceeded, I realized that it is possible. But this would also mean that we have to add code into its base. Now, BitShares is a decentralized exchange and the community may not be comfortable with having a gaming product built in the ecosystem. As the design matured the requirement for an independent blockchain grew.

This is how @Peerplays was born.

What are the conversations that inspired you?
