As someone who works in healthcare, I know that healthcare as an industry is behind when it comes to technology. And when I say behind, I mean way behind. I’m sure you know what I mean as you are likely a healthcare consumer.
I’m always interested when there are stories around healthcare and blockchain because there aren’t very many, and it could be such a game changer.
I read this article, “Blockchain remains a work in progress for use in healthcare,” that was featured in Health Data Management, and I wanted to share my takeaways.
We need a solution to help secure our healthcare data. Every time we turn around lately we are hearing about one data breach after another. We desperately need a solution.
And patients want access to their own health information.
Enter blockchain technology.
While some don’t think that blockchain technology will help prevent attacks and data breaches, I think it most certainly would! Come on private sector, we can’t rely on the government here, let’s develop something and prove these naysayers wrong. They’re probably the same folks who thought the Internet was a fad.
Blockchain technology will support healthcare…it’s just a matter of time.

I think we will definitely see healthcare adopt this technology. The blockchain is already being used in genetics and DNA identity. I remember seeing an ICO related to this about 3 years ago.
