Every sales professional knows how important leads are to their business. Many pros turn to generating their own leads because quality has always been an issue when relying on an external source for leads, but all of that's about to change.
The problem with list brokers is that they can buy databases from anyone and then resale the information over and over again to anyone they choose.. Sometimes, a broker may sell a list half a dozen times, and then sell it to another broker who does the same thing. This is annoying for both the consumer and business that spend hard earned marketing dollars only for the frustration of cold calling a bunch of consumers that are no longer interested, and quite frankly, annoyed.
Blockchain technology could very well drastically change the sales industry with how leads are generated and redistributed. It would enable one to generate leads on a distributed ledger where they could use or sell them. This would allow full disclosure about a lot of the details that are important about leads. How old are they? Where did they come from? How were they generated? How many times have they been contacted? These all affect how valuable a lead is and are often misrepresented by brokers.
Lead generators (could be sales professionals themselves that already have a funnel for generating their own leads or content creators that can refer targeted traffic) could allow limited access to their data for compensation. Sales professionals could then pay to access the lead, and it would be annotated in the metadata that it had been accessed. Decentralization in this industry would reduce consumer animosity towards solicitors and expose the quality of the data sales professionals are actually receiving for their coin.
