Over the last 2 weeks, Sarah Louise @ultravioletmag and I (Enrica - my real name or Red, as most of you know me as) have been working closely to get our Intro Video ready for our new Tech/Blockchain related channel.
With this new channel, we really hope to be able to bridge the gap between the tech world and the general public, by showcasing the real world value of blockchain technology and exciting tech projects, and by doing so in a fun, relatable and easy to understand way. We really want to see mass adoption of blockchain technology, and believe that to do this, we need to help get the information out there in ways the general public can relate to the most!
There are 2 parts to our video, please watch it to understand this project we're starting!

We had some fun brainstorming some possible names for the channel using keywords like "blockchain" and "tech".
We think we've found our favourite name through making this video - unblockED - but we really want to know what YOU think and if you can think of something even better!
I know the fonts used in the video aren't great, please rest assured we will have our design and branding more fine tuned by the time we set up our new channel!

Hi, best of luck with the new channel. My suggestion for a name would be 'Women Unchained' as it uses chain to suggest the blockchain and tech connection and unchained to show you are Women who can talk about tech and blockchain in a predominantly male world. And its also a play on the song title 'Woman in Chains' . Just my thoughts, I think the channel name needs to give a clue about the content but younhave the description to fill in more detail. My other thought was 'Blockheads' !

unfortunately hahah, so will probably never make the cut :( Also as @ultravioletmag has said, although we know we could milk the fact that we're women and make a catchy name out of it to attract viewers/followers, we'd rather steer away from that and have a gender neutral name :)
And as much as Blockheads sounds cool, it also sounds too much like Blackheads to me! haha I'm very picky with names sorry!

Thanks for the suggestions! And yes as catchy as some of these are, as @ultravioletmag has said (and maybe something I should have mentioned on the post itself!! Something to learn for next time), we want to steer away from that direction and would rather have a gender neutral name :)
Haha yeah we don’t rly want to go down the female path. I have a big thing about wanting to be equal I don’t personally like the girls only events or girls in blockchain stuff I just want to be a person in blockchain altho do acknowledge there are less girls. Each to their own of course but personally I wanted to avoid female sounding names. Someone will take that crypto Barbies name tho I’m sure it’s catchy :)

When I first read the name “unblockED” I had to chuckle a little. I understand that you are close to your project so you do not see how an outsider like myself would read this. I might also be bias since my kid had an issue constipation as of late and we had to give him some laxative to help him unblock. Do you see where I am going with this? I mean no disrespect to you or your project in any way. I really like your idea.
My suggested name are “Blockchain Insider” or “Blockchain Simplified”.

Hahah I know man.. I have kids too. If you managed to watch the video, you'll see that when the name "unblocked" popped up, I was laughing my ass off. But aside from the initial humour of the name (which we somehow don't mind too much, because we're a bit quirky anyway), we thought the name actually has some depth to it. Playing with the name to give unblockED (as in education) seemed cool, and also unblocking is something we feel the world needs right now. We'll see though, the name is not 100% at all, hence why we're getting the community to help :)

Great work! UK needs more involvement in this we are way way behind. It's great to see some UK representations. Up here in the North there have been no meetups sadly but a bit more promotion and that will come hey.

As for names? Hmmm you wanna play the lady angle? Or something that stands out more.. Don't sweat so much because in the end, the content speak for themselves. There is a channel literally by the name "Curious Elephant" that's now somewhat making a name for himself because his content is awesome.

We may touch on some crypto content, but predominantly we aim to be a tech related channel that will touch on blockchain tech, and any exciting new tech out there, like AI or VR or Quantum tech. As soon as we get a name, we will surely be sharing it with the community :)
With naming the channel, as you say, even if it's not specific to what we talk about, our content will hopefully make a name for itself. We don't want to play the female angle with our channel name, but we want to make sure we don't box ourselves in with a name that's too specific!
