2024 is expected to be the best year for airdrop hunters with the biggest of the airdrops planned for release in the near future. Some of the most anticipated projects are ZK Sync, Polygon ZK EVM, Linea, Base and many more.
As the market sentiment is turning bullish the airdrop effect will get further amplified as many smaller projects that do not have their own airdrop criteria leverage the activity level in other popular chains. Recent example is Dymension using activity levels in Celestia, Cosmo and Solana to select eligible wallets for the airdrop.
The catch here is that once the airdrop mania starts then the scammers will use the opportunity to start fake airdrops to hack your accounts if you are not careful.
To avoid falling into the trap of scammers it is important we are cautious about the projects we connect our wallet with.
To avoid scams and ensure I am getting involved only with genuine projects I participate only in airdrop linked quests promoted by Galxe and Layer3. Between these 2 platforms I am now more active on Layer3 as I find the interface very user friendly and easy to navigate quests of different chains and projects. Another turn off for me is projects forcing you to tweet, retweet, quote retweet about their updates to be eligible for airdrop points. I try to avoid such unnecessary shilling which spams the accounts of all your friends.
Layer3 has worked on this feedback and made the retweet step as optional.
Rewarding Active Users!
Layer3 gives preference to regular users who have been using the platform for a long time actively and have grown their accounts to higher level milestones like level 10, 20, 30 or more. They launch some special campaigns which are restricted only for higher level users. Also there are special NFTs awarded for completing higher level milestones.
In 2023 I was really active on Layer3 as I was obsessed with everything NFT. As most of the quests last year had NFT rewards I kept trying to complete them all so I can collect all their NFTs. With the crash of NFT market those NFTs are now resting peacefully in the hidden folder of my Opensea collection but one positive outcome was that I got a really decent allocation of Arbitrum airdrop. I was not even actively transacting on Arbitrum for airdrop I just did it to get NFTs.
It does cost quite a bit both in terms of time required and money to be spent on gas to complete all the quests but the good thing is all the major airdrops had quests running on Layers before they took airdrop snapshots. This means if you actively participate in quests on Layer3 there is a good chance of you hitting the big airdrops in 2024.
Finally Hitting Level 30!
I have been regularly grinding in the projects getting featured on Layer3 across Arbitrum, ZK Sync, Solana, Optimism, Base, Avalanche and many other new chains. I was able to hit level 10 very quickly and soon hit the level 20 landmark as well. After level 20 things started to slow down a bit as each level thereon needed a lot of points and the new quests needed higher capital to lock, pool and to cover transactions. The earlier quests had very little to no fees involved.
Still I kept grinding in the quests that were not capital heavy and kept gaining points. The result was that when I checked my activity level across the upcoming chains it was very high and regular across months as regular quests meant I did not have to remind myself again and again to transact on the new chains.
Layer3 keeps coming up with new features to support the users with the quests. One of the most useful feature they recently incorporated is their own cross-chain bridge functionality. Earlier it used to cost a lot to bridge funds from one chain to another but Layer3 bridge looks for the most cost effective option for you to bridge funds.
After a year of being active on Layer3 I finally hit the Level 30 mark. It was quite a feat Layer3 has more than 120,000 active users and there are just about 7,700 who have been able to hit level 30 so far.
Layer3 played a big role in getting me eligible for the big airdrops and I am sure it will get bigger in 2024.
Cheers,
Sam
