How dangerous is the blockchain technology?

in #blockchain7 years ago (edited)

I have been thinking about blockchain technology, like the underlying system here on Steemit.

Fact that it is impossible to edit your postings after a month or so, got me thinking that this is really a dangerous situation if you look at future possibilities:

Suppose someone starts creating virusses or malware on blockchains!
( and probably this is allready happening as I write this, mark my words!)

That would mean it will be impossible to get rid of them!

In fact it is allready possible to use ethereum as a coding platform to create socalled Dapps ( distributed apps )

To get an idea about this, take a look at this video by Siraj Raval:

These Dapps can exist on a lot of ( distributed) places on the net, which means that the apps cannot crash or dissapear: they will be allways here. The blockchain will make it impossible to get rid of them...

Combine this with some AI and that starts to sound like a new lifeform....

Yuval Noah Harari speaks in his fantastic book about Homo Deus, as the successor of Homo Sapiens, but maybe this have to be changed to Homo Dapp...

Homo Sapiens will die, Homo Dapp will live forever!

As I type this I am constantly aware that everything I type here will exist on the blockchain forever, even long after we are all dead!

Maybe Homo Dapp will be able to delete the then outdated content that is no more of interest to.... Who?

Some "smart" softwares that exists inside an enormous web of servers fed by giant solar plants.
These software entities will be "doing" their things, their computations, replicate themselves, invent new software entities.

No more need for Oxygen, CO2, Animals, plants, humans...

A living dead planet thanks to Blockchain?

I think is more plausible a cyberpunk scenario with as harari said dataism and transhumanism(with all its fuck up nightmares) , and eventually neuromancer style wintermute... again the power of unintended consequences normally shapes our fates, inmutability is a problem and a solution, its weird we think is less evil to allow free spech than censorship, maybe cuz censorship cripples change, but wait , most people hate change , but they they need it , inmutability also becomes a problem in the event of perverse actors and bugs. We are in the advent of distributed computing, is gonna be messy , but is gonna be long before the excel spreadsheets on steroids become self aware , although , the recent events , like amazon echo laughing and recording and sending shit by itself, or tesla and uber automated cars crashes, makes us weary , but truly the most disturbing is not the blockchain , but the data fb has on all of us and how is used to steer us. Again, i guess we have to imagine a future where we make it, cyberpunk or whatever. Interesting idea.

Interesting reaction!

System upgrade and innovative ideas is the way out. There is nothing beyond human capabilities. We are created by infinite being called God, so we are beyond measurable.
