What is IOTA?
From time to time I stumble upon interesting sites like the one from IOTA. For long I always thought that blockchains will mark a new era in computing as well as communication. IOTA somehow promises different solutions to ressource trading based on the blockchain.
Possible Example fro IOTA
Just imagine a scenario where you have a vast modern infrastructure including a smart grid for energy, computational clouds, sensors, autonomous vehicals and drones. Everyone buys energy from the smart grid, autonomous vehicals and drones buy data from the sensors and computational power from the cloud to navigate through traffic. the smart grid buys computational power from the cloud to optimize it's efficiency. And everything based on a fast blockchain technology like IOTA

Technical Aspects
IOTA is not really based on a classic blockchain. Instead it uses a blockless distributed ledger which is capable of the following:
- Micro Transactions
- Data Transfer (authenticated and encrypted)
- Voting (eGovernance)
As a result you get:
- Masked Messaging
- "Everything as a Service"
- Anything that needs a scalable Ledger

In-the-nutshell
Let's sum everything up and think about the following: We are in an era in which new technologies evolve quickly. Although IOTA promises a lot it has to be tested and prooven. I am looking forward to see it working and somehow this project just caught me. Maybe I'll invest some time and energy in additional, but not only money.
