The effects of cryptocurrency may begin with decentralization from federal to state governments, but it may also (hopefully) undermine the sustainability of all governments. That's because governments have historically not only utilized monetary centralization (impossible with blockchain technology) to gain unrealistic sums of money, but also to maintain a hegemony over society and the marketplace, reinforcing its rule. The agenda was made quite clear with the noncoincidental creation of the Internal Revenue Service at the same period as the Federal Reserve. It becomes even clearer with the recent War on Cash.
