IOTA and the start-up + CityxChange became participants in a pilot project to develop the so-called "smart cities" Horizon 2020 with the support of the European Commission. This is stated in the official blog of IOTA.
+CityxChange uses the IOTA blockchain to facilitate communication between various devices in order to ensure an environmentally friendly and sustainable urban environment.
"The participation of IOTA in the project will help strengthen our ties and positions in the market," said David Soneste, co-founder of the IOTA Foundation.
The start of the program, for which the EU has allocated 20 million euros, is scheduled for January 1, 2019.
In addition to IOTA, 20 enterprises, three non-profit organizations and two universities participate in the project.
