Armando Pérez, better known as "Pitbull" is trying to revolutionize the music industry by launching an international blockchain coding competition.

People from all over the world can participate in "Smackathon", using Ethereum to try to solve some of the most important music problems, such as artist royalty agreements and selected playlists.

The musician and entrepreneur is working on the event in conjunction with the eMerge Americas conference, a two-day annual technology conference in Miami Beach.
I've always wanted to integrate a music component into eMerge. Having Pitbull as a partner in this project, I really think it's going to be something big and special, "said eMerge Americas Executive Vice President Melissa Medina.

The developers have a month, from April 24 to May 25, to create a blockchain-based solution using Zeppelin's open source intelligent contract platform. A group of finalists will fly to Miami to present their idea to Pitbull and three other judges.

Medina also added: "I have had many conversations with Pitbull and he has many frustrations. He's Mr. Worldwide, he's very successful, but he's thinking about the artists of the future and the obstacles they face. With this movement we are not only looking to invest, but we are interested in helping to bring ideas to the market, make them grow and make them a reality, if possible ".

Presentations will be evaluated according to criteria, including originality, usefulness, completeness, design and technology. Developers will receive additional points if they use the OpenZeppelin platform.

Zeppelin founder and CEO Demian Brener said: "At Zeppelin, we try to make it easy and safe for any developer or individual to participate. Making Smackathon and taking advantage of Pitbull's brand is an excellent way to push our goals even further. "

The winning team will take home $ 6,000, and Pitbull is even willing to personally fund an idea that he really likes to help promote its development. Zeppelin, eMerge Americas and Medina Capital, founded by the creator of eMerge Americas Manny Medina, also plan to invest in the best ideas.
