Zimbo #2 - why i started trading crypto

in #blog7 years ago

living in a country unique as Zimbabwe has its ups and downs, sometimes you feel the sky is the limit and in the next few weeks it can all come crashing down!download.jpg

at the beginning of 2016 i had a lot to look forward to. it was the year i was getting married, i started a new job mid january where i felt i was going to grow with the company, and we had just moved into a bigger house with cheaper rent, i had also just bought myself a car. things were really great. they continued like that through pretty much most of the year.
my wife and i managed to pay for almost our whole wedding ourselves barring a smallish loan i took from the bank.

once we returned to work from our wedding and small holiday, which was mid december i was hit with the news that i was going to be retrenched/laid off because the company was struggling to make ends meet. with me being the last person employed i was the choice as the first person out.

this was a bit difficult to deal with as i felt very rejected and had no idea what I was going to do. my wife and i were thrown a curve ball 1 month into marriage. this is serious because in Zimbabwe unemployment is at around 90% and decent jobs are few and far between. we had my wife's salary to live off but it would not cover all of our expenses every month. i constantly pondered on what i could possibly do to earn some extra money and began woodworking from home with little joy in any of the pieces i had made. this was a fairly low point for both of us and we both tried to console each other that everything would be ok and we would get through it together. this is how quickly life can change in Zimbabwe.

about 2 months into my unemployment i had a call from a recruitment agency for a job out of town. i said i would go for the interview with little hope of landing the job. fast forward to today and i have been working here for 5 months. The job has taken me away from my wife all week and i only get to see here for 2 nights over the weekend.

the point to this story is that we must never lose faith in the path of our lives. sometimes we are winning and sometimes we are losing. take the good times with the bad. there will be points in our life that we can see no good coming out of it. if you stay positive though and work at making a plan and creating an opportunity eventually things will change. you cannot expect change if you keep doing the same thing every day.

this is also one of the reasons i started trading in crypto-currency. i decided that instead of wasting my hard earned money on rubbish that we don't really need, a small investment to see how it all works is worth it. so far yes i have lost half of what i have invested but the things i have learnt are a great deal more valuable than money. will i lose more? yes i am certain of it. will i gain my money back? i hope so and i don't see why not. my current balance from my initial $255 of
bitcoin or 0.10 bitcoin is siting at $160 or 0.05 bitcoin. I have invested in about 10-15 other coins. bitcoin is currently on the rise and hopefully it will bring up the value of the rest of the crypto-currencies.

that's all i have for today,

stay well until next time!
