I’ve been posting on DTube for a few weeks now. Here are some things I’ve learned when posting.
(If you have some useful tips or insights to posting on Dtube please comment them below).
Uploading To DTube
To Upload:
- Click on the cloud in the upper right hand corner.
- Drag and drop you video into the red box or click on the box and select the video from your browser.
If you are having trouble uploading long videos you can lower the resolution in QuickTime settings or compress the video to a smaller size.
Thumbnails
- Thumbnails aka Snapshots are limited to size.
- I generally upload 800px wide images.
- Alternativley you can take a screen shot in the DTube upload window, but it doesn’t always work.
You can also edit the thumbnail of your video via the Steemit blog post. Insert your desired image by dragging & dropping, pasting from the clipboard to your Steemit post. Then replace the previous thumbnail http link at the top of the description with the one generated from the new image. Here’s a video that will walk you through it.

Tags
- Up To 5 Tags can be applied to each post, separated by a space.
- All Tags must be lower case and should be relevant to your post.
The first tag will determine the category of your post/ video.
Description
- I typically try and say as much as I can about the video to provide the viewer with context. Views can come from both Steemit and DTube internally so you should write something. Or don’t, I don’t care.
Hashtags and taging relevant people (not spamming) in your post can help boost engagement.
Final Thoughts
Remember that the title, description and thumbnails can be edited but once you upload, your video is on DTube forever and if you’re post things that are R rated use the NSFW tag.
This platform is still new so I’m still learning too. I hope this post helped you learn something new.
Upvote or RESTEEM if you did. Comment below what I missed.
