What makes blogs so popular? Is it the thing you’re selling, the way you write your blogs or your personality?
So which are the most popular blogs?
The blogs that have some of the following credits:
One: A personal side of your life:
- People want to feel your passion and enthusiasm.
- People can relate to personal experiences. Especially if it’s something they have experienced or are experiencing presently.
- How you achieved success in your field. And why you did it. They tend to think: If you could do it, why not, so they can do it too.
Two: health and diet matters:
- How to slim down. Quick and easy methods.
- List of foods that will achieve people’s good health goals.
- Quick and easy meals for busy parents.
- How to keep fit and still have fun doing it.
- Help and advice for new moms.
Three: Do-it-yourself projects:
- How to make or create something: with clear understandable demo illustrations or videos.
- How to do it: with things that most people can afford or have already around the home.
Four: eBooks and stories:
- People love romance, adventures, mysteries and magical stuff.
- Easy to read and quick moving action.
Five: Fame and fortune:
- Talk about people that are famous and how they become famous.
- Dynamic people and how they achieved their goals.
- What their lifestyle is like. The crazy things they do and what type of homes they live in, etc.
Six: Sports:
If you are the sporty type, for example:
- Tell people about your adventures, bike trips, through interesting countries.
- How you hiked through formidable terrain or climbed mountains and sheer cliff faces.
- Sailed the open seas in a small boat and the places you visited while on your voyage.
Seven: Internet technology and optimum marketing:
People get to the point when they realize they aren’t getting enough people going to their websites to buy their products. Why have a website if it’s not working for them.
It’s like have an empty or mystery shop in the wrong place, and no one knows where it is or what’s selling there. So they are looking for information on how to up the trend of their sites and improve their sales.
Eight: Self-improvement:
How to do and make things, provide demos, supply or give advice, things people can improve their talents, lifestyle and put luxury into their lives.
Nine: Give out secrets:
- How to make lots of money.
- How to be famous.
- How to save time and money.
- And how easy it is to achieve it.
Ten: Fashion and social acceptance:
Everyone wants to be up-to-date, whether its fashion, decor or technology.
- How to look slim when you know you have a weight problem.
- How to throw a party on a slim budget, etc.
So what is your niche topic?
It may not be one of the above because we don’t all have the same talents, skills, hobbies or interests. This naturally affects what you write about and display on your website. And you may not have any knowledge of the above subjects either.
But like myself, been an artist, art websites aren’t popular! But there are other ways of going about it. You can select some of those above qualities to make your own website trend.
To do that, you need to consider:
What is the basic purpose of your topic or website’s theme? Who are you aiming at? What are their basic needs and emotional relationship to that topic?
And if you re-read the above, you will see additional things you can do to make your ‘product’ stand out from the others in your niche and put it out in front. For example:
What are people really craving? A secret or fact no one knows about, that will improve people’s skill or lifestyle out there?
What appeals most to people? Is it exciting or fun to do? Can they take the adventure with you? Can you make your website… THE Place to be?
What is the value of your topic to others?
- Is it shareable, visual, brief, fun, trendy, original, and or informative?
- Is it inexpensive to buy and quick to make or do? What is the quality of your product?
- Does it answer FAQ questions? Is it something people really want to know about?
- Does it have a human factor? Something people can relate to?
- What are your visuals like? Beautiful, dynamic, dramatic, action packed?
- What are your demos and diagrams like? Are they understandable and manageable?
Conclusion:
You make the difference: Your topic may be popular, but it’s how you present it, that makes the difference and how it trends!

good writing..😉
Thanks for the advice @artguru. Just starting out here and still trying to find my voice. Gives me a few more things to consider for my next entry.
good your sharing
Nice post!!
I think blog is popular because people relate to the blogger. If they have been following that guy for sometime then it becomes a habit to read his posts and the style, humour and everything else is pretty much something that the reader is used to.
Thanks for your positive comment. Yes, the way we write, is the way people relate to you. People continue to follow that person and read their blogs because they like the way they write and present their blogs and images, etc. On the other hand, most people avoid negative people... and so it is with negative comments.
Negative people are like cancer. They spread.
Sadly!
Now that's interesting and useful, thanks for sharing this with us!
Is there any book that you can recommend for people that are just starting with a blog? @artguru
Just continue to follow my blogs. You can check back on previous ones too: https://steemit.com/@artguru
It is my mission to help others with blog writing, besides writing short stories and travel adventures.
Good to know what people generally like the most from blogs and what works well. Can apply it to your own work and put in the passion while enjoying it. Thanks mate!
Thanks for the tip @artguru! As a newbie, I always struggle on what to post that would gain more engagement. Not just upvotes but also comments. It's always inspiring when other users engage in my post. My first one was great but had a lot of difficulty trying to gain the same audience reaction. Hope to have this as a guide in writing my next topic. Again, thank you so much for this. :)
I'm so glad you appreciated the blog. I wish you all the best, and best of all, have fun doing it.
Thanks @artguru. 😀
Very good post, and topic :)
But on Steemit, I think we should also mention the food blogs. it is close to "Do-it-yourself projects", but at the same time individual successful direction here.
I did mention that! Dieting and all that. The point is to write exciting stuff. In the case of food: people are attracted to stuff that sounds and looks juicy and tasty.
Wow amazing picture
i like to resteem and upvote this post.
Very good post @artguru
Of course my @imib
this post is a greats post...
this post is a greats post...
hi congratulation :D
Here on Steemit, posts with little contents or with too many errors often do well.
A perfect piece of writing may not generate any revenue at all because of poor positioning.
Then some Steemians are good at both writing and positioning:
You are one of them, for sure!;)
This is an informative Post.
I think the person behind the blog is really important.
I think most people are following the person not so much the topics.
But good writing and expertise are also important.
All of them need to combine together.
