To Promote Healing
Honey might be a natural antimicrobial, backed up by the conclusions of this 2018 study. In 2017, another study linked the potential of honey, royal jelly, and propolis (a resin-like material made by bees from the buds of poplar and other conical trees) to fight wounds and help healing. Honey used for this purpose must be kept in requisite medical conditions, of course. Doctors must be consulted when using honey as a healing agent.
Antioxidising
There's a vast quantity of antioxidants in raw honey, stemming from plant chemicals in the substance, with some rich/dense varieties having a higher antioxidant rating than many fruits or veg. These antioxidants can help protect against free radical damage in your cell matrices, which affects not ageing but also diseases, ranging from mild to chronic, including severe debilitations such as cardiac disease. Adding to this, polyphenols in raw honey can have anti-inflammatory effects, again providing recourse against oxidising stressors and especially helping vital organ function.
Phytonutrients
Raw honey also has a significant volume of phytonutrients, though these drop off rapidly if the honey is processed. In plants these are there to protect from harm, for instance, against UV radiation, insects, or environmental swings. These help raw honey not only in terms of antioxidant properties, but also antifungal and antibacterial potential, and have been linked directly to immune system protection in humans. Phytonutrients also have the benefit of anti-cancer properties.
Honey has countless great uses, but these three are certainly ones to remember it for.
