My Time after OpenOrchard

Situation

As of Jun 29th my time at OpenOrchard came to an end. There are no hard feelings, or tales of great drama like the Steem breakup. Simply put, the company was moving away from what we (Andrachy and I) had discussed when we first joined forces. This subtle tectonic movement tied in with the constant change of scope led to unclear goals and desires for ODESI (formerly OpenSeed) which I was the lead developer on. This internal shifting led me to a general feeling of resigned contentment the same feeling that most people have at their jobs. I was fine doing the work, and enjoyed it, but it was just work. In the end that wasn't enough for the company so here we are.

I do not fault anyone for the decision, and I enjoyed working with the Koinos team, they are truly great people with good heads on their shoulders. I wish them all the best, and look forward to whatever they come up with.

What About OpenSeed?

Everything I wrote was under FOSS licenses, and there for, the development will continue under my own git repository. OpenSeed as a project will shift back to its original goal of creating a federated, encrypted, and self deploy-able service for app developers who want to further decentralize their application beyond the block chain regardless of the chain. It is my hope that in the future OpenSeed will be able to power "at home" nodes that intelligently route data to and from external servers "as needed" to give end users the ability to control their personal data without sacrificing usability or current convenience paradigms.

Whether or not ODESI and OpenSeed will follow similar paths will be up to the new team but that is no longer my concern.

What About Me?

Well to say timing was bad is a bit of an understatement, but I look at the end of every job as an opportunity to better myself for the next.

What did I learn from this experience? That will take some time to ponder as the effects of the sudden change in plans hasn't been felt yet. For now its back to updating my resume, checking job offers and going through the motions. Thankfully I have more than enough personal projects to keep me busy in the mean time and hey!, more time to post here...that's a good thing right?

Wow so many re-blogs. Is that a thing now? Its been so long since my last post!

I haven't seen this before. It's odd - it seems they're mostly all related accounts.
