The thing I love most about car get togethers is the people ! This weekend I was invited out to a SCGC BBQ (SoCal Goat Club) just north of me in Fallbrook. The weather was perfect and the guys went above and beyond to make sure food and more importantly parking was on point. I have been to SCGC events before, but admittedly haven’t been the best about attending them on a regular basis.
Thanks to some poking and prodding by my wife I definitely made this one not only on time, but early. The turnout was very good and one of the members (Karo) brought out a smoker with LOTS of meat ! I got to catch up with some old faces and see where some people's projects were and how they changed. Some are doing well and others not so much, but it is all part of the scene.
After a while we had to get creative with parking which is a challenge that is always readily accepted at any car event. I was lucky enough to get a nice spot right in front of the garage. The guys who showed up late were left with the pretty rad incline of the driveway and fortunately for them, they had good functioning parking brakes (unlike myself).
We ate, drank, and most definitely laughed late into the night and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to hang with. They say every genre/make/model of automotive enthusiast comes with their own style and vibe. For us in the Pontiac/Holden camp, it’s simply accepting the fact that we could have done a lot more with our money had we bought something else, lol.
However, the memories and good times we have together keeps us going because at the end of the day. It’s about the friendships and memories, the cars are really just extra.
As always,stay tuned !
