Previously on Make Money Online, A Blain Jones Story: We traveled back to 2005 where Blain, a young Sergeant in the Army, wanted to make money online as a second source of income. He searched the internet high and low for a method that would work best for him and finally found something that he thought could work. How did it turn you, you may be asking yourself. So I finally found a website that I though might be of interest to me. The website was bux.to, a fairly new but seemingly profitable PTC or paid to click website. Essentially the premise was simple, you click on an advertisement and viewed it for a certain time (usually around 30 seconds) and you were paid for your time viewing the advertisement.
I clicked on ads for about two weeks or so, slowly building more and more money earned. But at the time, you would earn somewhere around .0001 cents for every ad viewed. Now this does not sound like a lot, and it is not! But my goal wasn't for me to sit here all day and click away for fractions of a penny. This website had an upgrade where you could earn more for your clicks than you would as a regular member.
I promptly use the money that I earned to upgrade and earn a little bit more with each click. But alas, this was still not enough to supplement my income. So with more poking around the site, I found that they had a referral program. Basically meaning if you referred someone to the website and they became a member, you would earn every time that person clicks on an advertisement for the specified amount of time.
With this referral program, there were two options. The first being a link that you were given to provide to other people and they would sign up under you. The second being that you could purchase referrals directly from the site. Essentially these are people that signed up to the site without a referral, so nobody was earning from the advertisement clicks.
Well, if you do not know me very well, I am the type of person to find the laziest way to do a job. I could spend hours upon days trying to get people to join my link under me OR I could just spend a few bucks and INSTANTLY have referrals earning for me. With bux.to at the time, they had a guarantee that your purchased referrals would click at least for a certain amount of days. If they did not click, you could get them replaced for free. I thought, who in their right mind wouldn't buy referrals and earn more quicker??
So even though I am quick to spend money on stuff, I decided to test the waters and purchased 10 referrals from the site. Those 10 referrals all clicked happily and they clicked long enough to both make my money back from upgrading previously and cover the cost of purchasing them plus some. Basically, I was in profit, and all I had to do was spend a few minutes each day viewing my minimum number of ads. At the time was five. So five ads at 30 seconds a piece is just under three minutes. So three minutes a day for profits. Yeah, I am SOLD.
I finally decided to cash out my earnings and have that sent directly to my PayPal account. There was no issue and I was promptly paid my $47.38 or something similar to that. Instantly I was hooked and wanted to scale this as large as I could as quickly as I could.
