That's really bad about the throwing away of food with a few days left before expiry. I live in a remote area of the Philippines, and when I buy bread from the store in town, for example, it only has 3-4 days left before expiring. It's common here, and the bread is fine, even for a few days after expiring. Hard to believe they are wasting that food.
